The fall of TalkTalk. A story as old as the deregulation of private equity.
TalkTalk began as a challenger to BT in the broadband market. It was listed on the London Stock Exchange, but was taken over by private equity in 2021.

Since then, the firm has built up debt while losing customers, leaving it unable to pay some of those it owes money to.

A really good way to get me to turn off notifications for your app is to send me pointless crap. Like, for instance, a smart bulb app blathering on about football.

I received an email this morning that was so full of business speak, I had to reply.
Our language is a marvel; the lingua-franca of many, it's the platform upon which so much else is built. One of the reasons for my company formation is the publication of various titles, through which I hope - like the BBC of old - to educate, entertain and inform.

English is a beautiful thing; a language through which we can interpret thoughts as ancient as those of Aristotle, and as contemporary as Benjamin Zephania and Maya Angelou; it brings us the lyrical beauty of Richard Burton reading Dylan Thomas, the majesty of the King James Bible, the vast breadth of Shakespeare. It shares with us visions of beauty from Wordsworth, the struggles depicted by Steinbeck, the political insight of Orwell. It offers uplifting words through songs born of slavery and defiance, awe and inspiration from Attenborough.

The right words, chosen with care, can move us to great things; to fight for the betterment of others, to strive for a greater world, to great moments of compassion and unity.

To conjure from such a heritage the grisly statement that "We're dedicated to easing your burden by delivering quality, actionable insights and content in various multimedia formats" is nothing short of an assault upon its dignity.

Ballot papers arrived. Three candidates each for Greens, Labour and Conservative. Weirdly, Lib Dems have only found two, and only one person is bold enough to stand for Reform in this ward. Still only had the Greens visit.

Age-gating is like saying “There’s shit and broken glass all over the living room floor. Tells the kids to stay in their rooms!” And then crunching and squelching your way through the mess as you go to watch your favourite soap-opera.
“We must protect the children!”

Actually, it’s not just the kids.

Social media can be toxic in many ways.
