I was pretty blown away by some of the creativity I witnessed at the Blender Conference (and loved the beautiful presentations... it's almost like the presenters were professional artists...) The amount of care was refreshing. conference.blender.org/2026/ #BCON26

SGI is an amazing example of how one can bring excellent new graduate students from a variety of backgrounds into a research field. It's one of the few examples that I've seen work in practice. It's going to disappear in 2026 if new funding is not secured. If you can help, contact Justin!

At #SIGGRAPH2026, I presented "points as tori" (PAT) for fast pointwise evaluation of signed distance for point clouds. Some code (Python w/ C++ extensions) and demo up: github.com/nzfeng/point... Contributions from people/LLMs welcome. Explainer thread below for the project: 🧵

Tomorrow at #SIGGRAPH2026 (Monday) @ 3:45-5:35pm, come to the papers session "Creating & Iso-Surfacing SDFs" in Room 408B. A paper I'm looking forward to is "Subgrid Marching Tetrahedra" by Hossein Baktash (yes, I'm biased as his labmate, but it's a great idea) [1/n]

I recently completed my PhD thesis, where I developed algorithms for making geometric inferences from imperfect data (i.e. incomplete and inaccurate observations/representations of shapes, like broken meshes or point clouds). A thread 🧵:

the rising stars program is about forging meaningful connections and a sense of community among young women researchers!!! I met Sarah thanks to the program in 2023, those connections and seeing how everyone grows in their own path has been deeply inspiring to me apply now >>
