Life in a Sociable Weaver colony is highly competitive. They compete over food and space, but does a bigger bib mean higher status? After studying >1,800 birds over 11 years, researchers found the black bib grows with age and not dominance. doi.org/10.1093/behe... #AfricanOrnithology

Do males and females follow the same social rules? An 11-year study of Sociable Weavers found male dominance increased with age, while female dominance did not, suggesting males and females use different strategies or cues to navigate their social world. #AfricanOrnithology #AnimalBehaviour

Tadpole backpacks? Not onlu this season's *hottest* fashion accessory, but Eva Ringler shows this is also a great system for studying the behavioral decisions involved in parental care! Day 2 of ISBE begins!

It is finally out! The second paper of my PhD with @sociableweaver.bsky.social! You want to test if the species you're working on is really monomorphic? You want to see what are the dimorphic parts of it? Have a look to our work at #AnimalBehaviourJournal 😉 See more at => doi.org/10.1016/j.an...
