The burden of proof has flipped: why is nature not material to your business?
Earlier this year, the first wave of corporate reports under the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) quietly revealed a troubling trend. Fewer than 40% of companies identified nature-related issues – such as pollution, water scarcity and biodiversity loss – as material to their business. This isn’t just a bureaucratic oversight. It is a systemic risk hiding in plain sight.

Nature was gently nudging me to purchase a copy of Robert McFarlane’s book “Is a river alive?” this morning when I found a beautiful tiny dragon fly sat calmly on the front cover in the middle of a busy town book shop. Nature won! Sold. Sorry David - next time.

The Environmental Audit Committee is conducting an enquiry on the role of natural capital in the green economy. Our evidence shows that nature is the foundation to our economic stability and that finance and policy, including the UK Green Taxonomy, can play a crucial role: lnkd.in/eaU2BXK4

Calling out for recommendations. Just finished reading Nemonte’s fantastic book. Such a wonderful book with many lessons for climate, social and environmental action. Any recommendations of other great grass-roots books on environmental and social law and justice? #WeWillNotBeSaved
