Magnius from Tales of Symphonia. I loathed him and his stupid fight so much. I was taking a German class back when the game came out and my rage made me write multiple assignments about how much I despise him.
The in-game model of the boss Magnus from Tales of Symphonia. He has tan skin, red hair in dreadlocks. He wears green pants, pointed metal boots, and a purple vest with no shirt to show off his chest. He looks as unpleasant as he is.

Look at this cute little painting from my beloved, @willowflora.bsky.social!
A small painting of a cute green frog. There is a mint-colored heart behind it along with a sunflower and a few stylized sparkles.

Did a little experiment with mixing my main paint colors on the page. I think it turned out nice, though the colors are really hard to photograph.
A piece of paper with blocks of colors painted on it. Each block is separated with a white line. The colors are reds in the top row, followed by yellows, then blues.

On the subject of making up backstories for random enemies: Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water got my most developed. There a few ghosts in the game that are "amalgamations" of multiple souls to explain why they keep turning up with the same model. I deemed this one "Drowned Rat Man"
A ghost from Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water. The ghost is a man with short black hair. He wears dingy dark clothing and appears very damp.

More nostalgic games! This time, my first introduction to Yoshi. In a game that was given a whole new title outside of Japan even though it had nothing whatsoever to do with Tetris. Tetris Attack (SNES, 1996) Seriously, this confused me the first time I got my hands on real Tetris. (1/5)
The box for the North American release of Tetris Attack on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. It has art of a large, angry block dropping on a stack of colorful blocks with different symbols. It is rated E for Everyone and has a note that it is a two-player game.

Post your first RPG
The box for the North American version of Final Fantasy 6 for the Super Nintendo. It was called Final Fantasy 3 and has that as its title. The cover is mostly black with a moogle, a white creature with red bat wings.

Given when I got this, I probably got my copy off a box of Lucky Charms. This was one of many games included with cereal boxes back in the day. Some other famous examples include branded games like Chex Quest and regular PC games like Roller Coaster Tycoon and even the original Age of Empires.
The CD envelope that some PC games came in if you got them via a cereal box. In this case, the game is Amazon Trail 3rd Edition and has logos from General Mills and a company called lightdog on the disk. The envelope has a clear window to show the disk and states it is a full-version and is worth over $50.

More games from my childhood. Today, it's all about an educational game that I played for hours and hours, at least until I got my grubby hands on a copy of Morrowind. The Amazon Trail 3rd Edition (1998, Windows, Mac) While I included the box here, that's not how I or many others got this game.
The box for Amazon Trail 3rd Edition, released by The Learning Company. It has the title, and cartoony images of the Amazon River along with a village and various native animals from the region like a parrot, monkey, jaguar, and lizard.

First PS2 game that comes to mind? Okami
The full cover for the PS2 version of Okami including the front, back, and spine. The front has a white wolf with red marks and a flaming disk leaping in front of the logo. The back has more art and a description of the game along with technical details.

Since Okami is finally getting an official sequel, I want to talk about the weird spiritual successor that came out for the DS. Okamiden (2011, Nintendo DS) First off, it isn't by the same people. The people who made it made the Wii port, Ace Attorney Investigations 2, and Onimusha 2. (1/7)
The American cover for Okami den. It features the main character, a white wolf pup with red markings. A young boy holding a sword is riding on its back. There is a stylized version of the title as well and the rating (E 10+) and the publisher (Capcom).

Playing the Pokemon TCG Pocket game has me thinking of the original video game where you play a trading card game based on the Pokemon video games. Pokemon Trading Card Game (1998 JP, 2000 worldwide) This game is fun for sure, but that story is wild 🧵(1/5)
The box for Pokemon trading card game for the Game Boy Color. The title is over the old background for the trading cards, an opening pokeball over able background with the element symbols around it. There is a blurb about a limited card included with the game.

Next game to get a thread is an old favorite and another I had to battle a bit to get to work: Grim Fandango (1998, Windows) There is a remaster, but that was years away when I took my victory with getting Myst to play as the motivation to play this for myself.
The original box for the game Grim Fandango. It features multiple skeletal characters wearing 1930s-era clothing in a cartoony style.

Time for another game thread! This time, it's Myst. I've played most of the games but we're only talking about the first game. Myst (1993 Mac, 1994 Windows) This game was so popular I distinctly remember playing it on both the family computer and my friend's computer somewhere around 1997.
The cover for Myst. It shows the main island with a figure of a human falling from above the title. There is a triangular section in the upper corner with reviews, a CD showing this is the Windows version, and a subtitle. It reads: "The Surrealistic Adventure That Will Become Your World"

Time for more threads about games I love. Today, Fatal Frame 2, but I will discuss the rest of the series briefly! Also, spoilers ahead since this is old. Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly (2003, PS2) This is the American title, it's Zero in JP, Project Zero EU and AU.
The cover art of Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly. The cover is mostly black with red butterflies. There are two young girls wearing white kimono in the center. They have long, dark hair hanging over their faces and the sashes for the kimono are red ropes that link them together.

The first game does end with you fighting the king of Genma/technically god. It tries to crush you like the ant, but jokes on Mr. Light God, that just makes our stabby guy stronger and he goes full Oni, which is awesome and he of course stabs the giant eye because what else would you do?
The final boss in the final cutscene of Onimusha. Fortinbras, a large white demon with 3 red eyes screams at the main character.

More games I love. I love the whole series here. It will be touched on briefly, but a lot of this is all about: Onimusha: Warlords (2001, PS2) In this series, you okay as a warrior with powers granted by the Oni, fighting monsters known as Genma. And Oda Nobunaga, but we'll get to that.
The cover art for Onimusha: Warlords. It includes the stylized title in English and Japanese. The main character, Samanosuke in front of a white background. He is wearing traditional red samurai armor with a katana on his back.

Feeling very called out right now.
The user's top song from Spotify Wrapped. It was Holy Water by The Funeral Portrait. They played it 289 times despite finding it in November. This puts them in the top 0.001% of listeners.

The game's goal is to make it through 5 worlds based on Ned's fears. Each has its own art style. At release, the game was so intensive that it had a version on the disk that removed cutscenes to save on disc space. This game was so scary for a kid. Look at this.
A screen from Nightmare Ned that looks like a stage with curtains. Ned is on the left. 3 creatures assembled from taxidermy with each piece in a different art style are in the center of the screen. On has a bird head with moose antlers on a deer-like body sewn together with obvious patches from other creatures. In the middle, a creature has a heavily detailed dog head on one end of the body and a cartoony gargoyle on the other end. The creature's body is a tube and it has four duck legs. The final creature has a semi-realistic drawing of a fish head with large eyes and bat wings on a yellow body with red legs. It is on a tall perch. A vine-like ladder is at the top of the screen and it has eyes on the end.

Today's game from my past I have fond memories of! Nightmare Ned (1997, PC) While I had already played (and gave myself nightmares from) Resident Evil 2 by this point, this is the first "scary" game I tried to beat on my own. So let's go over the game!
The cover for Nightmare Ned. A young boy with glasses hides in his bed. He is afraid and looking at the shadows of monsters on the wall. Two thin, pale hands have broken through the wall and are poised to grab his bed.

You know what? More game recommendations for games that stuck with me! Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and The Lost Ocean (GC, 2004) This game does have a collection with the sequel/prequel but I don't have it yet so this is all about the original. The game that changed so much for me.
The cover art for Baten Kaitos. The main character Kalas holds his hands crossed in front of his chest with his hands clawed. His wings, one feathered and one mechanical, stretch out of frame.

There are sequels, but at least the most recent ones for the 3DS don't really have much to do with what I loved about the GC original. It isn't easy to find the original game anymore, but give it a try if you get the chance. It's been my comfort game since 06 for a reason.
Chibi-Robo, a small silver metal robot jumping in the air. He has a black Japanese-style wall plug on a short cord.

I played through Gen 1 + 2 many times with all the starters so this was tough.
An image of all the starter Pokemon to show the user's picks for each generation. The white line goes over Squirtle, Totodile, Treeko, Turtwig, Snivy, Fennekin, Rowlet, Scorbunny, and Fuecoco.

I got these tiny 2" canvases and decided to make some mask + weapon combos for iconic slashers This is my attempt at teeny #Ghostface
A tiny painting on canvas. It is the classic knife and mask of the Ghostface killers from the Scream horror franchise on a black background.

I used to run a hatchery on Flight Rising and my favorite part was making the pair cards. I still like some of the backgrounds I did. The insects were a texture in the art program but this still turned out nice.

My friend Prinn gave a great suggestion for finishing this! The paper curled pretty heavily so photographing it is hard. I'm happy with this for my first painting. I really love the hanging greenery and I'm glad I added it. Enjoy swamp thing having a soak

Playing with some acrylic pens I got, but I have no clue what I'm doing or what I should fill the white space with.
A partially finished scribbly painting of a pond with lily pads and greenery. There is a white space above the pond that handy been filled in yet.
