This part in particular is gold because it's exactly how people come to the conclusion that "no one uses bike lanes."
The findings from this groundbreaking study came after Dr. Reid Claypool, head of the ISOR, and his team of researchers observed traffic from the window of their office for approximately fourteen minutes.

Elbows up! Unless it's to sell out to an American investor to build a data center for Anthropic. We lower our elbows for only the best way to line our own pockets.

I'm not surprised Houston is in bed with a Trump bootlicker CEO who already isn't paying Newfoundland for what he owes. Said CEO is also under investigation in New York for other dubious business ventures. The fact that it's an Anthropic data center is doubly unsurprising.

Nkt to mention that the wind power part of the project won't be done until long after the data center is operational. Which makes me question whether it'll ever be built at all.

It's amazing how many people are offended when I...*checks notes*...refer to a trans man by his preferred pronouns?

Welp, never using Epic Game Store again. I'll uninstall the app on my PC when I get home tonight.

A pro-wrestler. And I tried doing it twice in my life. The first time fell through because the new school and owner was sketchy. The second time, which I moved to Toronto to attend, ended when I discovered I have a fear of being lifted up.

I did basically a bookstore crawl earlier this year for Independent Bookstore Day. They even made a handy map of all the participating stores, complete with collectable stickers/stamps. Prizes and deals at each store. It was an amazing experience.

Too late to do it now, but if they made Austin Powers 4 during the height of Daniel Craig's Bond, they could have advertised it as a dark, gritty reboot. Whole new cast. Do a trailer and everything... ...only to reveal early in that they're the villains and the original crew has to stop them.

So, looking into it, yes, if you run a red light and are found to be the source of a cascading effect among other motorists, you can be held liable. Of course, the percentage of cyclists found liable in an accident is EXTREMELY low.

This guy keeps arguing that if a cyclist runs a red light and two other cars get into a fender bender, then the cyclist is at fault. I'm no lawyer, but I'm prety sure that's not a thing. Not if it was a bike, a car, etc. If a dog runs out onto the street and two cars collide, is the dog at fault?

How many times has someone blocked a bike lane with their vehicle saying they'll be 'just a minute'? Reposting from LinkedIn: Creating a safe space for people on bikes and scooters at places that are temporarily blocked by car drivers in San Francisco (by Safe Street Rebel). I'm feeling inspired.

Since I expect Emmett to block me instead of engage in an argument, I'll include screenshots. The point of the post he's quoting IS about safety. By removing the bike lanes, it forces cyclists to share the road with drivers in that area. It basically ENSURES that more cyclists will be hurt.
Emmett Macfarlane on Bluesky:
Cycling activists would get a ton more public support if they avoided framing debates over things like bike lanes like this. Emphasize SAFETY, yes. Bike lanes make cities better. They can even make DRIVING better, by reducing congestion. Invoking 'violence' in ways most people won't buy isn't it.

Tom Flood on Bluesky:

Be Ready For Action.
follow @cycletoronto.bsky.social and @thebikinglawyer.bsky.social for updates

The image shows three grinning faces of Ontario premier, Doug Ford. The text says, "ripping out bike lanes is premeditated road violence."
Emmett Macfarlane on Bluesky:
3... 2... 1... [prepares to get yelled at. But I'm 100% right].

If you were 100% right, then thst would mean more people would agree with you. You are not because you're misconstruing the messaging; perhaps purposely so.

Do you realize the messaging in the quoted post is about safety? By removing the bike lanes, it ENSURES that more cyclists will be hurt or killed because they're forced to share the road again in those areas. The "premeditated road violence" is every cyclist expecting a less safe commute.

Oh look, an argument in favour of bicycle registration and insurance. Never heard THAT one before. 🙄 #BikeHfx
Nick Piers hopefully one of the changes will be cyclists have to register their bikes for road use and insure. If you fell over biking through said traffic jam, and your handle bars leave a 6 inch gouge in my paint on my door because you tipped into it, who covers that? Or say you run a red and someone gets rear ended, your the one who caused the accident

When I used to drive and go to the grocerystore, I would intentionally park WAY at the back. Partly to get some steps in, but also it's super easy to find an empty space back there, so it's way easier to get in and out.

All totally valid criticisms. I don't necessarily agree, but I see where you're coming from. I fully admit there are better movies out there, but Shawshank remains one of my favourites.

Maybe an odd choice, I'm gonna say Watchmen. Especially if they believe it's better than the comic or if the ending is better. It's not necessarily a BIG red flag, but it does make me give them a sideeye glance.

Heh, I've had Shawshank as my #1 favourite movie for decades, so I'm curious about your reasoning. I don't take offense; I'm really curious. (Mind you, my top movies also include Pan's Labyrinth, What Dreams May Come, The Martian, Stranger Than Fiction, Out of the Past, and The Iron Giant.)

Now if only Marvel would make the Epic Collections more reasonably priced. As it is, they're almost as expensive as the average compendium from other publishers.
