I like the FaceOff film logic that once you replicate a persons face and wear it: The rest of the body just sorta happens to become that person too. Even if it’s just a mask. I’m slowly realizing they explained the tech in FaceOff better than the MI films. I now dislike everything I just wrote.

To clarify even more, because my original opinion was SO WELL WRITTEN (sarcasm) I do think streamers share in the responsibility in this: I’m more upset at the incentive structures and the people at the top who make these decisions: A boss telling designers to think of DSP should be fired.

Absolutely- One thing I think is tripping people up is that I phrased my opinion with “most of”. That’s on me. Wish I could edit that. There isn’t one definitive answer, but I do find this particular issue overlooked.

I find the explanation that a team of people decided to make/outsource their expensive assets first, before white-boxing or planning a map: Less likely than a bunch of C-Suit morons giving the game to advertisers who are incentivized to pay more attention to people giving them money than playing.

Mario Kart is the one most people have played and it’s been consistently excellent. CTR has no business being better than MK, but it is. Can’t talk about the remake, but the original saw what Diddy Kong Racing did structurally and then applied it to the most satisfying kart racing mechanics ever.

I think we should normalize the idea that most of these forced-on, yellow-paint and fart lines: Have to do with the fact that there’s a bunch of streamers that are bad at streaming, because they are more engaged in their chat while playing. It’s why we barely have tutorials with text anymore.

That’s always been the sad truth of the matter. The issues Valve has is a laundry list. Not counting GOG or Itch: The issues that its competitors have are cataclysmic. If Steam wasn’t around we’d be all Stadia users forced giving Sweeney AI data for Unreal Engine.

I would pay money, so I wouldn’t have to hear what a CEO says about anything. And I mean anything. Like even positive things about why things succeed like in this case. The C-Suite right now are a bunch of people who’ve failed upwards so much, I’m surprised the head of Sony knows who Spider-Man is.

Second and third game do pair you with a very talkative AI that gives commentary and hints. But even in the 90s his verboseness was something that could be edited in options. (Or just not clicked on.) Loved the TV 90’s sci-fi vibe of the whole series. High recommendation.

Recommend the remake of the first game, because it’s more in-line with the second and third. I did a little AI upscale test years ago on the second game. Quality of this tech has changed leaps and bounds since then, but it was an honest first attempt trying to clean old res footage.

For years I had a ruined manual of FFVII. It got stuck in my backpack when I was in jr. high and got covered with markers. For years I sorta had it stashed away. Then maybe over two decades later I checked the manual and the ink had hardened and naturally fell off. Should have hair dried it sooner.
