I went through a phase with this band, and I think that makes me the only person to have ever said that in relation to this band.

I will forever defend Scorsese's New York, New York, Neil Young's Human Highway, and the general shovel-dancing career of Russ Tamblyn, just to throw the cat among the otherwise sage pigeons.

Getting my playing back up to scratch for December tour. Can you name the song from my new record that this solo is taken from?

We announced a fourth Spain show on the December run. We're playing 30 mins outside Barcelona at the best 300-cap venue in the region: Radikal in Granollers. I'll post a ticket link in the comments.

Ain't nothing like watching Mad Dogs & Englishmen before the sun is even fully up. It's like a gauntlet thrown down to the day, challenging you to do something meaningful.

It's rare that I feel the angst of the emperor's new clothes effect on music anymore. However, I have about as much interest in Angine De Poitrine as I do in cooking up some fried rabbit turds with hot dog hair.

Yesterday, the rains came in Náquera. The neighbours all left their holiday homes and the cicadas all stopped rubbing their wings. Today, the sun returned, but the cicadas and the neighbours didn't. Slays me every year. I'm back in silence until next summer.

Or maybe modern listening is just normie by nature.

Nick Mitchell Maiato @nickmitchellmaiato.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

Van Morrison's great technical skill is running controlled scales with his voice. But 60 years ago, that voice would have been considered horrible by normies. It rasps, reaches for sublingual, guttural resonance, and puts vibe over melodic variety. If you think it's just for boomers, yer losing out.

Jimmy Kimmel basic-fat-shaming Guillermo did not play well with the crowd last night. I think we may have moved beyond "stooge" comedy, especially when the stooge is from a minority culture. Big cringe.

Nick Mitchell Maiato @nickmitchellmaiato.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

Country "singer-songwriters" saying AI is "just a tool" and boasting about using it to fill in the parts they can't do are maybe the most profound examples of the meaninglessness, and characteristic idiocy, of contemporary culture in existence. "Gu-huh, we don't even have to feel or think no more!"

Náquera finds Nick Mitchell Maiato cooking up refried cosmic choogle with horns, two former One Eleven Heavy bandmates and enough dank country haze to summon the spirit of Doug Sahm. This is a boogie you won’t want to sleep on. recordcratesunited.com/2026/09/01/n...

I love that Jay Lane just did a whole podcast interview in sneakers, spectacles, shorts, and not a stitch else, like he just rolled out of bed, grabbed his glasses so he could find his one-hitter, and walked on cam. It's the most uncouth interview appearance I've ever seen.😝👌🏼
