Shocked to see scenes from the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Relieved that no one was killed. However profoundly we disagree in politics, we should do so in words and through the ballot box. Violence must have no place. No one should be silenced by intimidation.

Finally. When Cabinet Ministers warn the PM not to alienate the civil service, they’re saying what the rest of us see: this Government has a problem with how it governs. I served three PMs and a deputy PM as a civil servant. This matters for the change people voted for.🧵 bsky.app/profile/pick...

Has anyone noticed that wherever JD Vance goes, he just makes a mess. In Munich he insulted European allies. In Greenland he turned everyone against Trump. And now he’s helped Viktor Orbán lose re-election. Maybe better to spend more time on the couch VP.

If Trump follows through with his wilder and increasingly concerning threats, Keir Starmer must immediately recall Parliament. The Prime Minister must also withdraw US access to UK bases now. This is a grave and era-defining moment for the world.
Quote from Ed Davey which reads:

“This is a grave and era-defining moment for the world. Donald Trump is making wilder and increasingly concerning threats by the hour.

“If Trump follows through with this, Keir Starmer must immediately recall Parliament. The Prime Minister must also withdraw US access to UK bases now.

“MPs must be given a chance to hold the Government to account and prevent the UK from being complicit in war crimes and breaches of international law.”

Haringey Lib Dems, @eddavey.libdems.org.uk & @luketaylorld.bsky.social have written to the Home Secretary calling for Kanye West's UK Visa to be urgently reviewed. After a long record of antisemitic behaviour, it is unacceptable for him to headline a major festival in Haringey.
Photo of email sent to Home Secretary:

	"ome Secretary,"
"We are writing to you with the utmost urgency regarding the reported upcoming performance by Kanye West at Wireless Festival in Finsbury Park."
"It is completely unacceptable for anyone with a track record of praising Adolf Hitler and declaring themselves a Nazi to be given a platform to perform, especially in a publicly-owned space like Finsbury Park. In fact, the Government needs to go further and ban Kanye
West from entering the United Kingdom."
"Under the Home Office's ""conducive to the public good"" criteria, you have the clear authority to exclude individuals whose presence in the UK may foster hatred. Kanye West’s recent history of spreading antisemitic tropes, promoting hateful ideologies, and glorifying historical figures of genocide falls squarely within the definition of ""unacceptable
behaviour"" that justifies such an exclusion."
"Allowing a high-profile individual who openly spreads bigotry to enter our country sends a damaging message of tolerance toward hate speech. Many residents in Haringey and across London will be rightfully horrified at the idea that a stage is being set for someone who promotes division, and that public land is being used for an event that causes such
profound pain and fear to the Jewish community and other minority groups."
"We believe that his presence in the UK poses a significant risk to community cohesion and public order. We therefore urge you to act decisively and bar Kanye West from being issued with a visa to enter the United Kingdom."
"Antisemitism has no place in our United Kingdom, and Jewish people should always be able to feel safe here."
