It's a little early but it had to be done.

Rereading THE SPARROW by Mary Doria Russell and boy, I forgot just how brutal this book is. Still one of the best first contact books I've ever read.

I've been utilizing this long holiday weekend to finally dive into THE DEVILS by Joe Abercrombie and quite predictably, it's freaking magnificent. I don't want it to end.

If I had to pick the best fantasy series of this century, it would without hesitation be THE SHADOW OF THE LEVIATHAN by @robertjbennett.bsky.social. I can't even put into words how brilliant the series is. If you haven't read it yet, I'm jealous that you get to experience it for the first time.

An under the radar fantasy trilogy that I don't see talked about nearly enough is The Risen Kingdoms by Curtis Craddock. Pre-Victorian era time period, but with floating airships & a truly original magic system. Think a steampunk version of 17th century France. Can't recommend it highly enough!

Sometimes I need a palate cleanser because I read so much SF & Fantasy. If anyone is looking for a good (and fairly quick) nonfiction read, I highly recommend UNDERGROUND by Will Hunt. Chronicles the author's exploration into various subterranean places across the globe. I really enjoyed it!

I'd give anything to relive just one day of my 1980's childhood.... 20 bucks of quarters burning a hole in my pocket, heading to the boardwalk arcade to crush some Galaga and Defender.

Reading the third book in Shauna Lawless' Gael Song series, THE LAND OF THE LIVING AND THE DEAD right now and wow, sooooo great. If you are looking for a Celtic Fantasy series to sink your teeth into, this is one that will more than satisfy that itch. Really engrossing and the writing is superb!

I know what I'll be reading tonight - DUST OF THE DEAD, by Michael R. Fletcher. Not out until August, but Mike was nice enough to send me an advance copy. Just love this cover and can't wait to settle down and get into the story. If it's anything like his other stuff, I'll be in for a treat!

This series is so damn good. Love KJ Parker. I'm looking forward to starting his brand new one but these should be required reading for anyone who is jaded by tropey formulaic fantasy books. #SaevusCorax

One of the benefits of going to a high school located a block from the beach is my daughter gets to run on the boardwalk as part of rowing practice. She just sent me this photo. Looks cool with the snow.

Rereading Richard Swan's Empire of the Wolf trilogy and man, it's even better the second time around. Honestly it's as close to perfection as you can get. Highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys really well-written fantasy with great characters and a darkly tinged world/magic system.
