#homelab experiments with hermes-agent, I now have it integrated with my local Gitea and it opens pull requests for changes it wants to make, and even (somewhat) listens to my feedback. So far all 100% local on Qwen3.6-35B-A3 (DGX Spark)

The Coldcard hack/attack/exploit is wild. I purchased one in 2021, and had to deal with an emergency migration (while in another state) last weekend. Gutted for others who have lost out coldcard-hack-tracker.vercel.app

Last month one of my websites had a surprise Google Maps API bill ($nnnn), up 600% from prior, via AI crawlers (my guess) using headless browsers more frequently (so fully loading DOM + thus load Goog Dynamic Maps API). Feels like every month, AI crawlers triggering more issues on my hobby websites!

I'm amazed these weeks how my daily workflow has changed so much vs. 12 months ago. I now check-in with a personal agent (tracking work projects in Markdown), another agent helps me work with a codebase or two, and another (trying Hermes at home) helping monitor some of my community projects.

Favorite use of Claude for the week: Pasting lspci -vv output from a new server into it, and having it give me a summary of which devices are at their proper (or unexpected) PCI Gen speeds and lanes.

We switched Speculation Rules on Shopify storefronts from conservative to moderate eagerness. Here's how that went: performance.shopify.com/blogs/blog/f...

Faster storefront navigations with moderate speculation rules
We upgraded Speculation Rules to moderate eagerness on all Liquid storefronts. Desktop navigations are now 285ms faster at the median, with near-zero TTFB.

I was this many years old when I finally learned how to debug PHP "properly" (step debugging via XDebug using VSCode on a remote container). Until now I've only ever debugged PHP via echo or error_log() statements. I've been writing PHP code since ~1998. I'm living in the FUTURE everyone! :P

Experimentation in the homelab! Switched from #Prometheus + #Thanos to just #VictoriaMetrics (w/ migration of 2yrs of data), much happier! Prom would die on larger dashboards/queries, OOM. VM is 20% of the size of Prom, and queries insanely fast! 30s+ queries in Prom/Thanos, now taking <1s in VM.

Would you want core web vitals In Safari? Can you help me understand how you would use them and why numbers in one browser isn’t enough? (These may sound like silly questions, but I’d love to understand *your* specific context and use cases)
