💪🏳️‍🌈 #PrideMonth Harry Kane wore this armband four Prides ago, when England defeated Germany in a EURO 2020 Round of 16 tie. The captain scored the second goal in a 2-0 win, heading home the goal that would seal progression to the quarters. It is now part of our Game of our Lives display.

It’s very important because player autobiographies are relatively rare prior to 1945. Prior the SWW, some leading players had their stories serialized in newspapers. Another, Samuel Wadsworth, recorded his unpublished manuscript onto audiotape.

Delighted to share a superb recent donation - the original autobiography of Albert Geldard. From 1929 to 2008 he was the EFL’s youngest player. Debuted with Bradford Park Avenue v Millwall at 15 years and 158 days Moved to #Everton and won 1933 FA Cup alongside Dixie Dean and 4 caps for England

On this day in 1988... Luton Town completed a remarkable turnaround in the League Cup Final in a truly chaotic end to the game. A saved penalty and two late goals in the final ten minutes shellshocked holders Arsenal, as the Hatters clinched their first major trophy.

So England's senior side has never played Latvia... but the Lionesses have. In 2021, Sarina Wingman's team hosted a Latvian side comprised of young amateurs. Hemp scored four and Russo, White and Mead all bagged hat-tricks in a resounding 20-0 win: the largest in Lionesses history.

On this day in 1966, the Jules Rimet Trophy was stolen (for the first time) 😱 Thieves took it from a stamp exhibition at Westminster Central Hall, sneaking in and out via the back entrance. The FA's clandestine replica is safely under lock and key on our Match Gallery.

Born on this day in 1940, one of England's greatest goalscorers: Spurs legend Jimmy Greaves. This image of Jimmy is from the 1963-64 Charles Buchan's Soccer Gift Book. Jimmy scored 36 goals that campaign: one of six seasons where he topped the league's scoring charts.

The 120th and final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park. This isn't actually from one of those derbies: it's from a time when Everton and Liverpool produced a joint programme... These were produced from the late 19th century right up until the mid-1930s. 🤯

¡Hala Madrid! 🙌 We've got a rather lovely Real Madrid shirt on display, worn by none other than Alfredo Di Stefano. The forward won five - yes, five - consecutive European Cups between 1956 and 1960, scoring in every one of those finals (including a hat-trick against Eintracht Frankfurt in 1960).
