Fabric shops using AI images on their listings are pissing me off. The images of the fabric are real, but the images of the clothing 'made out of it' are AI 💢 And I KNOW by the fabric weight the clothes wouln't look like that if they were actually made in that fabric. So much false advertisement.

I use the POV I'm writing from/ focusing on to set the scene--what does POV see/sense and feel about the setting. The focus is on the POV character's emotions about the situation. This is trickier with omniscient voice, but can be done even with multiple POVs. #Sustember

Past tense. Always. I feel present tense is too unnatural for fiction. It's very limiting. I think it's great for screenplays, but terrible for novels. I don't even like reading present tense, if I'm honest.

A thing I absolutely detest is when a story written in third person or omniscient third in its original language is changed into first person when translated into English, just because first person is "trendy" 😞 And it's worse when it's the translator's own decision to do this.

I use active suspense, and background suspense. Active suspense are the conflicts happening in the moment--the chase, the hunt, and so on. The background suspense is the between--the unresolved, mystery, romantic tension, the plans, the promise/threat of something happening in the future. #Sustember

I don't do unreliable narrators in romance. If an MC has a secret, the readers will typically know. But using the involved narrator voice is making me think differently about how to approach hidden motives. When you can show anyone's thoughts, whose thoughts do you choose and why. #Sustember

I use all the senses, but it depends on the POV and the voice of the story how each sense is used and how much. For example, if the POV character has bad eyesight and lost their glasses, I might focus more on sounds and touch, or the distress of not being able to see clearly anymore. #Sustember
