#safc All this noise about the Sunderland penalty because of Arteta’s noise, but the penalty Saka won at the end was soft. The contact was outside the box, for one thing. Saka was lucky not to get a card for simulation.

When I call the number, does it give an option to transfer the account? Of course it doesn’t. Auto-voice-bot won’t let me do that. Just a shocking piece of customer experience. (2/2)

@bbc - I am trying to renew my mother’s TV licence, since she has dementia. But it is the name of her late husband. To renew it from her bank account, I need to change the name on the account. Can I do that online? Of course not. You tell me I have to call a number. (1/2)

The most important thing about this transfer window was that we didn’t lose any of the core team from last year. Because, as RLB would say, they already have their connections and their references.

Andrew Curry @nextwavef.bsky.social · 02/09/2026
I don’t think we got bullied. I think we said, this is our transfer target, and we are going to make sure we get him. As far as I can tell, we didn’t end up paying a higher fee—although I suspect we ended up paying a higher agents’ fee.

Andrew Curry @nextwavef.bsky.social · 02/09/2026
But I think we’re all pretty sure that Fofana is a better player than Will Grigg. But what do you want the club to do? Give up on a target in the face of a problem, or face it down?

TL:DR: “So here’s the political economy of pub closures. It is not: people stopped going. It is: pubs became collateral in leveraged buyouts, debt costs were passed down as higher rents and lower investment, and the pubs that couldn’t sustain the extraction closed.”
