I've added a note to the end of this piece about the opening statement that Push Process is a work of autofiction. It's not: it's an old-fashioned semi-autobiographical novel, with the emphasis very much on the 'semi'. I should have thought about this more!

New pair of shoes ripping the skin off a point on my heels after about five minutes' walking. Astonishing how disabling that is – it just rubs away at the same bleeding point. Hopefully will improve. It's a Camper style I've had several pairs of before, because it doesn't usually cause this problem!
