Good move by the S&P. The traditional cooling period after an IPO before the company can be integrated into the major stock indices is there for very good reasons.

On a day like Earth Day, that question carries added weight. This is because climate risk equals investment risk. And undisclosed lobbying – particularly on climate policy – introduces uncertainty that markets are not pricing clearly.
110
Bruce Herbert, aif @newgroundsri.bsky.social · 23/04/2026
Proposal #7 does not take a position on specific policies. It asks a simpler, more fundamental question: Are shareholders being given the information needed to assess alignment, risk, and long-term value?
130
Bruce Herbert, aif @newgroundsri.bsky.social · 23/04/2026
Goldman Sachs spent nearly $4 million on lobbying in 2025 alone, but provides no consolidated view of how those resources were spent or whether their use aligns with shareholder interest or the company’s public commitments.
110
Bruce Herbert, aif @newgroundsri.bsky.social · 23/04/2026
Across industries, corporate lobbying has played a significant role in shaping – at times slowing or weakening – meaningful climate regulation. Yet most of that influence occurs indirectly, through trade associations and other third-party channels that remain opaque to shareholders and the public.
110
Bruce Herbert, aif @newgroundsri.bsky.social · 23/04/2026
On April 29, shareholders of Goldman Sachs will vote on Proposal #7, which requests a comprehensive report on the firm’s lobbying expenditures. This matters, particularly in a climate context.
