It was the profit motive that drove both the amnesty in exchange for unit 731's ultimately useless notes and the overlooking of crimes against humanity for acquiring scientific expertise. Just like it is the profit motive now thst shapes contempory capital punishment to kill near uniformly the poor

I don't consider show trials flanked by the likes of Operation Paperclip and the exoneration of the butchers of unit 731 an earnest effort to exterminate fascists, personally. And I'd be intrigued to learn of othet counterexamples younger than 85 years.

The idea that the death penalty could be used as an instrument of retribution against fascism in this system is the only fantasy I see here.

Those "special circumstances" would be nothing short of revolution. In the meanwhile all supporting the existence of the death penalty in this system does is make the carceral state, which preys upon the most dispossessed of our society, that much more lethal against them.

I hope you realize that in this system, and under the dominion of capital in general, the death penalty will never be applied against the people you recognize as your enemies. It will only be employed against those the ruling class considers expendable and deserving of discipline.

I played a translation patch for the super famicom game. Its pretty buggy and it has annoying parts, but it has big ideas for its era and really cool vibes. It's worth screwing arpund with for a couple hours.
