Sam (formerly Barisan Hantu) 🇸🇬🍉 @neuroliminality.bsky.social · 27/05/2026Haven't been on here for a while. I have a question! Does anyone have good resources on a philosophy of leading in the context of disability in the workplace? Or perhaps a more pragmatic approach? Specifically, how to set meaningful standards and ensure sufficient support? 174
Sam (formerly Barisan Hantu) 🇸🇬🍉 @neuroliminality.bsky.social · 09/02/2026I think it's quite sensible! It's quite a new paper so I'm not sure it's translated to practice but it sounds like a step in the right direction to me 000
Sam (formerly Barisan Hantu) 🇸🇬🍉 @neuroliminality.bsky.social · 09/02/2026Just read about the concept of kind extinction under ABA. It horrifies me a little that ABA generally prescribes following through with every instruction but the introduction of kind extinction signifies very important progress imo 120
Sam (formerly Barisan Hantu) 🇸🇬🍉 @neuroliminality.bsky.social · 30/01/2026One of my biggest pet peeves is when people argue that "support needs don't vary because those with high support needs always have high support needs" - those with high support needs remain at high support needs but their support needs can vary at that level! 071

Sam (formerly Barisan Hantu) 🇸🇬🍉 @neuroliminality.bsky.social · 12/01/2026It's very funny to me that as an autistic person I am somewhat triggered when people are too pedantic. Sam (formerly Barisan Hantu) 🇸🇬🍉 @neuroliminality.bsky.social · 04/01/2026It's too many things to list which is why it's hard for autistic people cos we want to break it down and take it step by step. It's more like an energy/attitude where you are curious, patient and gentle even when you are right/factual. For example, managing tone and asking questions are helpful 010
Sam (formerly Barisan Hantu) 🇸🇬🍉 @neuroliminality.bsky.social · 02/01/2026One of the major issues I face is that whenever I try to push for something that I think is good of the organisation/its people/my students, folks tend to think it's a personal agenda of chasing visibility or power 010

Sam (formerly Barisan Hantu) 🇸🇬🍉 @neuroliminality.bsky.social · 30/12/2025I would like to do less things wrong socially but it's also worth saying that getting too stuck in analysis and problem solving is counter productive to actually repairing relationships. Sam (formerly Barisan Hantu) 🇸🇬🍉 @neuroliminality.bsky.social · 30/12/2025There's a special kind of hell in being autistic, knowing I'm doing something wrong socially because I perfectly understand people's reactions, analsying every single thing I did or said for clues and still not knowing what I did wrong 2183

Sam (formerly Barisan Hantu) 🇸🇬🍉 @neuroliminality.bsky.social · 22/12/2025Idk if anyone else has observed or described this relationship but a key factor in autistic burnout for me is getting fascia muscles to relax. Sam (formerly Barisan Hantu) 🇸🇬🍉 @neuroliminality.bsky.social · 22/12/2025Still struggling with it but working on it bc: a. it affects my wife b. I've come to understand 90% of my workplace conflicts and misunderstandings are due to tone 😭 120
Sam (formerly Barisan Hantu) 🇸🇬🍉 @neuroliminality.bsky.social · 22/12/2025Not sure if this is really attributable to ABA therapists but I have noticed some autistic students who had early intervention speak with a musical/fixed intonation almost as if the social script has a melody that is the same every time 070
Sam (formerly Barisan Hantu) 🇸🇬🍉 @neuroliminality.bsky.social · 22/12/2025Anecdotally, quite a lot of autistic people lean towards monotone when speaking and may have trouble hearing tone. For myself, I vary between monotone and being too excitable and I've observed that nervous system dysregulation affects tone a lot for myself and autistic students 280
Sam (formerly Barisan Hantu) 🇸🇬🍉 @neuroliminality.bsky.social · 22/12/2025Trying to regulate your tone as an autistic person involves regulating your nervous systems and consciously thinking about tone in a way that (I think!) is comparable to removing a stutter 3327
Sam (formerly Barisan Hantu) 🇸🇬🍉 @neuroliminality.bsky.social · 20/12/2025I feel like there needs to be discussion about emotional permanence for autistic folk especially when you consider familial factors: Emotions/situations can be feel more permanent to autistic folk, which is reinforced by autistic parents and this deeply affects how we navigate/interpret the world 0120
