It might not seem like much but, given how hostile things are becoming for us, little things like this mean a lot to me, even all the way out here in Canada. Ty Mamdani 💜

I think it's important a lot of you understand many thigns people call "controversies" don't actually exist. They are inventing opposition to things because that's their business model. Nothing can ever be good enough because if there's nothing to be mad about, they lose their audience.

They've already *been* targeting us with very insidious propaganda for a while now, especially -certain- provinces (Alberta, cough cough). Lake Ontario is just the most laughable example. But it's been happening for at least a few years in the background.

2/2 Perhaps they were right to do so, considering the risks that anti-trans orgs present to women's rights in general. Have you actually read the report? At the end of the day its findings are well supported and its recommendations quite prudent.

1/2. If this report does not reflect Amnesty's official position, then one has to wonder how this report came to be. It sounds to me like some people at Amnesty were displeased with their organization and took matters into their own hands.

The GOP is so successful because they were the ones promising radical change. It's time the Democrats got with the times and adopted a policy of major, radical, reforms. I hope to see more DSA-aligned Democrats get elected soon.
000
Ardat-lilî @network-nomad.bsky.social · 24/07/2026
Ppl like the DSA because they want radical change. And they know that they'll never get that change by voting for establishment dems. Asking them to once again vote against your enemy is not going to appeal to any of them or mean anything to them.

Ardat-lilî @network-nomad.bsky.social · 24/07/2026
Maybe the Democrat party got into this mess because you rely on people voting against your opposition, never *for* you. You never gave leftists any real solutions to the things that are ravaging our society. Never anything to really believe in.
100
Ardat-lilî @network-nomad.bsky.social · 24/07/2026
Maybe people are "tempted by democratic socialists" because they are socialists and/or believe in socialism in some form. The kinds of ppl who like and support the DSA are the kinds of people who vote according to their values, not strategy.

That being said, the worst thing you can do is stay at home and not even vote. GO VOTE!
010
Ardat-lilî @network-nomad.bsky.social · 23/07/2026
You can vote out politicians. But most of the 1% are not politicians. Candidates that actually are committed to dismantling their power are extremely rare. No mainstream politician or candidate is going to be a threat to their power.
110
Ardat-lilî @network-nomad.bsky.social · 23/07/2026
The 1% will keep their power no matter who you vote for, because no major party will seriously challenge that power. They are designed not to. And most candidates are bought and paid for by the ruling class. If you want the 1% to be fully removed from power, you need to overturn the entire system.

I wouldn't call it communist... Socialist maybe? I feel like the communist thing to do would be to seize and nationalize the country's oil and o&g industry's assets, and outlaw companies like Chevron. This isn't that obv

I would also argue that categorizing biological sex processes as "errors" and "not errors" is not a categorization that's useful for anything

pressured into it say, bc it confirms your bias, and happily ignore what the majority of both trans and detransitioned people have been repeating for decades.
010
Ardat-lilî @network-nomad.bsky.social · 24/04/2026
Mmm yes. What is the estimated percentage of trans people that detransition because they regret it? Oh right, something like between 1–5%. You'll latch on to what a handful of ppl who detransition bc they feel they were
110
Ardat-lilî @network-nomad.bsky.social · 24/04/2026
Not to mention calling intersex people "errors" is pretty dehumanizing. Maybe don't say that.
010
Ardat-lilî @network-nomad.bsky.social · 24/04/2026
Calling the processes that lead to being intersex "errors" is you applying your own judgements and sensibilities on a natural phenomenon, that cannot actually have such a property physically or inherently. Biology does not know or care about the difference between an "error" and being "correct".
110
Ardat-lilî @network-nomad.bsky.social · 24/04/2026
Any so-called "rule" or category we apply to the natural world is merely a mental construct/tool that we use in order to grasp and understand the world. Nature does not actually care if it exists within or outside of whatever categories we humans come up with or whatever we decide is the "norm"

The conscious self is what really matters and makes "you" you. Identity itself does not exist in any other part of the body except inside (or rather as a function of) our nervous system. Without a brain, does the body know its own name?

The first cuneiform text found after George Smith's decipherment of the Epic of Gilgamesh's Flood Tablet in 1872 was a literary text called šarru ana dīni lā iqūl, or 'The King Does Not Regard the Law'. 'The King Does Not Regard the Law' concerns rulers who act out in a state's self-interest:

There is enough money for both. It's not an either-or situation like with military spending. It's a matter of actually taxing the 1% (by f.e: closing loopholes) and redirecting funds away from the military. There is enough to both go to space and do things like UBI or universal healthcare.
