The aesthetic of these box designs is just beautiful, and I’m disappointed that I grew up long after this era

True, but given these are all PC games, it's not really helping Sony's case. If we did a 1:1 comparison of Switch 2 exclusives vs PS5 exclusives, without any PC ports, the comparison becomes extremely unfavorable for Sony.

Finished implementing an entity interaction system. Each button flips a light on and off, as well as the axially adjacent buttons and their lights. Hit detection for brushes could use some polish, but that might be because I don't have a crosshair. #gamedev #indiedev

Probably the only entertainment I got from this game’s existence was that video of a dude running around using the killing curse, only for the teachers to softly reprimand them. In a deep twist of irony, I feel like that video is a pretty accurate summary of Rowling and her remaining fanbase.

Which is wild given the Vatniks have literally been importing people from India, Africa, and North America and holding them hostage unless they fight on the front lines.

I have a friend whose dad preordered the Roadster in 2017, and the Cybertruck in 2019. Even disregarding how abysmal the Cybertruck reveal was, I don’t understand how you could preorder a vehicle, get no updates on it for years, and then decide “I’ll preorder another one!”

A streamer does a blind playthrough of your favorite game and is actually enjoying it, but their friend is the VC and keeps talking over the dialogue and distracting them.

If you’re talking about China putting AI datacenters underwater, that’s literally so much worse. If rising sea levels is a civilization-ending threat being caused by climate change, why the hell would we build structures that constantly release heat into the surrounding water?

Except they really don’t, and they’re really not Like my job has benchmarked this as a last-ditch effort to justify the billions we invested into GenAI. What they found is GenAI hasn’t meaningfully improved since 2024, and even with subsidies GenAI’s current trajectory would bankrupt us by 2027

Not to mention these companies haven’t produced a single product that works as intended without hemorrhaging money being a necessary aspect of its existence.

The land a lot of these more rural datacenters are planned to be built on are often used for agriculture, but they become completely unusable for that purpose once the datacenter is constructed. And once the datacenter begins operating, they’re dumping toxic chemicals into the air, water, and soil

Netrosis @netrosis.net · 13/08/2026
I mean literally all AI datacenters need to be destroyed and the owners of them need to be shot like the animals they are. The tech is at a dead end, with no way to meaningfully “improve” or become financially viable. What happens in a year or two when the datacenters have to be sold/bulldozed?

My life would be demonstrably better without GenAI, given my workplace replaced our employee handbook with an AI chatbot when I started. If I didn’t have to divine things from the chatbot, I’d finally be able to know how to call out sick or go on vacation

Like I’ll buy boxes of Pokémon boosters now and then, so I guess I’m part of the problem, but at least I’m doing so to let my nieces play with their classmates versus upcharging people online.

Netrosis @netrosis.net · 06/08/2026
Yeah, I get really frustrated with my coworkers that buy bulk amounts of sealed Pokémon or Riftbound, since they’re always talking about how much they’re gonna be able to sell it for versus literally anything you can use bulk product for

It’s a temporary fad like NFTs, the issue isn’t rolling with the punches and trying to squeeze blood out of a stone by looking for benefits. It’s making sure we’re not caught with our pants down once it’s gone, because commercial AI isn’t going to last and local AI cant outlive the commercial models

As for the deed being done, the same could be argued for traditional art/code/IP theft to downplay the impact those have on creators. Just because someone has already stolen and lost money because of it doesn’t mean we should just forgive the thieves.

My understanding is that courts have NOT in fact ruled against training data being fair use, as it still has to be lawfully acquired. Given Nvidia and the rest of the cunts were outed for requesting expedited access to large quantities of pirated data for AI training, the defense falls flat

Furthermore, ODSTs being wary/distrustful of Spartans is nothing new. I mean Chief in particular killed two ODSTs during his training years, which played no small part in that relationship souring.

I’ve noticed most of the people that complain about her looks or actions in the game haven’t actually played it. Like I’ve had dudes tell me how disgraceful it is that she’s talking back to Chief during the game , yet aren’t aware that she appears in an optional side mission, not the main campaign

Twitter literally started developing the Bluesky protocol so users would be able to control what they view and who they interact with. The fact that American conservatives can’t force themselves into people’s timelines if they spam enough posts is a success of its design, not a failure of it

It’s like how Smogon had a nazi board in 2004 but most of the staff was unaware of this when the 2024 callout happened, given they were either kids or infants when the board existed

I mean it was 13 years ago. Most of the speedrun moderators and people covering this would’ve been kids or teens when it happened, so I’m not surprised it slipped under their radar. From what I’ve seen, most of the current staff weren’t even in the community until 2019-2020

I like getting immersed in the video. I’m like “No way, I can’t believe he got away with this for so long. I mean it’s SO obvious in hindsight!” while I’m just trying to understand how Pokémon personalities affect their stats

The people who write GitHub replacements are the same people who’ve spent decades writing Linux/FOSS alternatives to popular commercial apps. The problem is a lot of these replacements are built under the assumption that the UX for the commercial app needs to be completely redesigned for their app

It depends on the genre. Like I’m someone that likes long, narrative-heavy games, but if a game is short but extremely replayable like Plague Inc, I will absolutely burn hundreds of hours into it.

Netrosis @netrosis.net · 30/07/2026
It may never go away, but it’s never going away in the NFT sense: It’s not going to have anywhere close to as much presence in society in a year or two as it does now, but weirdos will still cling to it. As for “learning how to use it”, it’s a search engine. You don’t really need to learn anything

Well no, the HuggingFace “hack” was a marketing campaign by both OpenAI and HuggingFace. A deliberate marketing campaign cannot be seen as the start of the singularity.
