Just heard that the great John Blanche passed on. No illustrator had more of an impact on my childhood. Blanche is probably the single person who most influenced the aesthetic of Warhammer 40,000 and a lot of modern fantasy / sci-fi as a result

I don't know how to describe this drawing but there's a dude in maybe a labcoat with a cravat who looks half rotten and slightly burnt with a crazy toothless smile holding up a letter that says pontifex maximus. A big demon looking biomechanical priest thing stands behind him. They are surrounded by trash and ruins.

Is it just me or is it actually a hugely underwhelming box? The marines are all fairly nondescript, and though it’s nice to see a speeder it’s not enough to tempt me. I was keen on orks but I think I’d only want the two vehicles. Somewhat disappointed really.

Consider phlebas is an odd one isn’t it? It doesn’t fit the feel of the latter novels, Banks was just beginning to find his feet and build out this universe. One thing is for sure, though… look to windward is a more meaningful experience if you’ve read ‘Phlebas first.

My finished Corsair Eldar diorama ! I've 3D designed the entire base + plinth myself. It was quite the challenge, but i'm glad it turned out as envisionned. As for the added meaning, it's basically the L, G and B banding together to protect the T. #warhammercommunity
