In Arkansas, all it took was a few clicks on the Arkansas secretary of state website, $45 and an American flag to form a bona fide private school with the Arkansas Times.
We established a school with Mountain State Spotlight in West Virginia after filing our new school's name and location with authorities on a piece of notebook paper, then exchanging a few emails.
And with The Assembly in North Carolina, we filed an online notice of intent to open a private school at Ponysaurus Brewing Co. in Durham, while perched on its metal bar stools, eyeing glasses of a crisp kolsch.

Omigod, this is the most heartwarming story possible! Backpack (bear 89) is the son of the 2019 winner of Fat Bear Week, Holly (bear 435). In 2007, he injured his foot & a practice of riding on momma's Holly's back had a new meaning: he was mobility-restricted while it healed. So Holly moved him.

From DISCVR blog's Facebook page, a momma bear & a yearling cub on her back in the shallow water. I think the background has been swapped out, and I can't rule out some AI use there? God, Facebook has become the social media for AI slop : (

I *hate* this "digital divide" framing for AI; even libraries marshal it to justify their "AI literacy classes," ensuring all have "access" for self-actualization and economic opportunity. Maybe instead some folks are sufficiently literate, and they're instead choosing *principled refusal*.

A little Saturday joy: my grocery delivery trick worked again. I live in a rural area and it takes a while to get out here, but the Wally-world website doesn't know that. Pay up front for the shorter delivery fee... it never makes it on time, they waive the fee, I add it to the driver's tip 😀

Whether you have insurance or not, your local county health unit in Arkansas likely has all the vaccines you might want for free. I take my whole family every year for Covid and flu shots and my kids received every single one of their childhood vaccines there.

Dangly earrings, especially red or black ones with weird geometry. Bugs, of nearly any variety. There were a pair of weird diamond shaped amber earrings a couple weeks ago I barely missed dibsing, and I’m also a sucker for chalcedony. And malachite. Ooh, and sapphires in gold-over.
