SCOOP: So remember Dialog, Peter Thiel's private society that doesn't have a public website and no public list of members? I (along with a number of other journalists) have just been tipped off that embedded in the code of their closed off website there IS what seems to be a list of some members.

Ongoing work for @rolldown.rs : - Rolldown-Vite ecosystem CI (~60% passing) - Full bundle mode HMR - Incremental build - Module Federation (built-in support) - oxc minifier improvements (built-in, already with better compression ratio than esbuild and 6-9x faster than swc)

Evan You:
Theo - would be much better if you reached out first. Rolldown itself is beta but we haven't really made a proper release for Rolldown-Vite yet so you are testing the wrong target.

There are some unfortunate issues with your benchmarks:

1. Rolldown-Vite doesn't need `vite-plugin-react` because JSX handling is built-in. You are basically paying the cost of Babel transform on every module for nothing in your benchmark when it can be done in Rust!

2. Rolldown-Vite ports many Vite-internal JS plugins to Rust, but they are not enabled by default currently. When we do a proper release, we will ask users to opt-in to native mode so we can more gradually test drive and phase it in. When opted-in, Rolldown-Vite is more than 3x faster than current Vite.

3. The bundle size issue is a known issue (de-optimized CJS bindings because React is still... CJS) and has a fix incoming.

I've been hyping TanStack Start long enough; it's time to show why I love it so much. Start took a superb client-first framework (Router) and added SSR in a non-obtrusive way. The react-query integration offers better component-level data fetching than RSC frontendmasters.com/blog/introdu...

Introducing TanStack Start – Frontend Masters Boost
TanStack Start enhances the TanStack Router by adding a server layer that improves performance through server-side rendering (SSR) and isomorphic loaders.

Woah, `ref` as a function is secretly so powerful. No more `undefined` checks and useEffects just to add some document event listeners. Handle everything with a function in-line 👍
Cleanup functions for refs

We now support returning a cleanup function from ref callbacks

Here is a fun one for you all: contrary to popular belief, in Node.js promises (async/await) would not yield to the event loop. So, if you want the event loop to process I/O in between a long chain of async functions that actually aren’t doing I/O, you would need to add a setImmediate in between.

A linter without type informations will never be as good as one with. Which means that all linters out there, even tho faster, can't really match a robust typescript-eslint setup yet imo.

Precisely. `use server` is coarse, rigid, and open to interpretation based on your compiler. Try adding client/server validation, context, modifying headers, method, etc... ☠️☠️☠️ No thanks. `createServerFn` is type-safe, explicit, and offers WAY more fluid customization when required

Let's talk about where RSCs are innovating though. They're the first official way to send the *result of some pre-rendered JSX from the server to the client, removing the need for the client to load and use the code that produced it*. That's it.

Isn't it funny how many people dogged on component fetching because it created waterfalls that are now hailing RSCs because they enable... component fetching, albeit on the server. It removes one side of a round trip for a fetch, but a waterfall is a waterfall and you know what they say...
