Few photos from a tremendous weekend in Leeds for the annual @thegreatwargroup.bsky.social conference. So good to see the group going from strength to strength with outstanding keynote presentations, a varied programme of short seminars and friends old and new. #GWGLeeds #Greatwar #militaryhistory

Much more versatile these days, can carry cruise missiles and other guided ordnance. In no way supporting any of this but, important to understand the difference, this is not Vietnam...yet.

Fantastic night, supporting @sofomuseum.bsky.social, at Blenheim Palace, listening to @almurray.bsky.social. The 'in conversation' format worked really well and Al's passion for the minutiae of military history shone through. And, good to have a quick chat about the brilliance of Steven Wilson 😉

I know these feelings well! Have actually read about 3 pages of a book that I have been asked to review but, yeah, that's not exactly worthy of celebration. I'm blaming Monday.

Almost certainly you'd think? Might have bumped into each other down Strait Street in Valletta (a definite 'if you know you know' comment 😉). I wonder how closely, if at all, the layers and the sweepers worked together?

Glasner: "Plenty of opportunities to boo us in the last month but they never did. This is the bond we created in the last two years. "They were disappointed but never booed us. We always felt the support, today we saw right at the end, the players and the fans — these emotions you can't buy" #CPFC

Black & White photo of Frank Woodruff Buckles in his WW1 uniform. Upper torso and face against a dark background. Rejected by the Marines and Navy the Army accepted him after he lied about his age. He drove an ambulance during the war and drove German POWs after the Armistice.

I left home after the second to walk to the pub. By the time I got here it was 3-0 and down to 10 men. Wonderful being a part time supporter as I was called the other day. Obviously my 40+ years of being a season ticket wasn't relevant 🙄 Maybe it isn't? Cheers.

Hello. We're new here. 👋 Wondering what devil's porridge is? Sir Arthur Conan Doyle coined the phrase to describe the explosive materials he saw munitions workers at H.M. Factory Gretna mixing in large pans. They were making cordite. Please don't eat devil's porridge. 💥 #DevilsPorridge #WW1history

#OTD in 1917, Lance Corporal Joseph Handel Stringer was killed by a shell whilst training with 1st/7th Bn Worcestershire Regiment near Fremicourt. An Iron Chain Maker before the war, Joseph was 23 years old at the time of his death and was buried in Grevillers British Cemetery.
