Amazing to be profiled by @lfdecentralized.bsky.social for my work at Trust over IP. I'm not a coder, but there are many opportunities to contribute more than code like standards, human experience, governance and more. www.lfdecentralizedtrust.org/blog/develop...

Since overhiring of Tech workers during COVID, RTO is a downsizing strategy to avoid layoff or other contractual required terminations. If people quit, no payout is required. That the Office people return to is chaotic and a substantial down grade from pre WFH is the tell.

I have only hiked that trail. Was a nice hike. Mind you it was with a yet undiagnosed hip that was replaced 2 years later

A related question is how much is built during the same period. The major push for City building in Canada, financed by the Feds, was early 1950s to late 1980s

So right on time. I recall reading that NorAm city infrastructure lifetime is between 40 and 60 years. 1967 is 59 years old.

Work started 3 years ago and proceeded at the North end of the community and proceeded for 2 years on a street/cluster basis, and then suddenly stopped with no announcement as to why. There has no further communication when it will resume /e

Beaverbrook in Kanata has underground distribution installed in the 1960s. We were informed 5 years ago that the cable needed replacing, plus infrastructure upgrade to twice the voltage /1

I regularly use the Cycling Guide App, which provides safe cycling routes/google maps features, and for many routes for food and other shopping it:s all interior streets and pathways, with major roads only when inavoidable./2

From Kanata. Suburban roads, aside from interior streets, and traffic lights (with the exception of those equipped w cyclist/pedestrian bug buttons and specific indicator lights) are not safe./1

With the isolated location and pure bedroom (no committed employment) aspects, drop in birth rate and immigration, plus effective downsizing of the Federal workforce, where is the housing demand going to come from?

Haven't seen the fine print, but I suspect this about clearing obstacles to additional oil/gas capacity being built, but that without customers signed, profits assured and private money committed, this goes nowhere.

Weight reduction is part of that equation. Solid state vs existing lithium batteries promises dramatic reductions in size and weight. You are also underestimating how much money is on the table for solving these issues. Think trillions.

I've been in tech since 1978. Battery tech has too much money chasing it not to double in charging capacity & speed and range very 18 months. This is classic hi tech rate of change when the $$$$ is clear. By 2030 we won't be having this discussion.

There's also the prospect that potential Asian customers accelerate the alternatives; wind/solar/battery and nuclear, to avoid dependencies on foreign energy supply. If climate change driven weather, which jumped in 2026, continues or accelerates, voter tolerance for O&G may collapse.

That's what you get from Jacques Greber's road vehicle centric plan and lack of funding at the national level for transportation, such as planning for transportation corridors. Also true for the lack of long term planning related to high speed rail from Windsor to QC.

Time line for them being operational in Canada? 5 years too late. Solar/Battery solutions are cheap and fast to build and hook into the existing grod, being installed world-wide, but not in Ontario or Manitoba in any meaningful way.

Are outside of City taxation rights and capabilities. Cities were built in the latter half of the 20th Century with Federal money, which all but disappeared with the downloading of costs in steps, finalized in the mid 1990's by Chretien to the Provinces, which did the same to Cities./2

The overwhelming tendency in Politics, including Canadians, is to attribute all ills to a single person. Federally, it was DJT, in Ottawa it's the Mayor and Councillor(s). The reality check on major issues such as flooding/climate change, infrastructure (new/renewal), public transit, etc./1

With the poor connections proposed for HSR between Ottawa and Montreal, driving is faster unless you live near the HSR station at one end and your destination at the other end is also close to a HSR station.

Observation, the need for parking has increased due to transit to downtown job degradation compared with pre-LRT BRT. Time from Kanata has degraded from a reliable 35 minute commute to an unreliable 90 minute commute in either direction.
