All our cats are feral. In general, they almost never vocalise to either me or my wife. Once in a while to each other, but rarely. And they have somewhat understandable behaviours. Our abandoned STRAY on the other hand is equally loud to us both. But we never know what she wants.

I'm the backup mail filter/proxy as well as a store and forward email cache (in case of downtimes) for another organisation. They had a LONG outage yesterday during a move to a new datacenter. Hadn't had a good chance to test the new mailfilter's store/forward functions, but they worked perfectly.

The entire bottom shelf in our freezer has been encased in 12" of solid ice for a good while now. We've been resisting the need to defrost the thing for a while because it's, like, work (and we've a lot of frozen stuff). And f that. But today, we chipped it all out with hammers and picks.

A large stainless steel sink full of ice and an Imperial pint of shandy cooling off, so I can celebrate later.

We transferred Esme from her recuperation kennel to her new room yesterday. Her new room is Hallow's old room (which was Junior and Niall's old room). Hallow's a bit less than thrilled, but she has the rest of the house, and Esme needs her own space. Esme was... not an easy move. Took over an hour.

It was 12C when I got out the door this morning. I got to walk around the neighbourhood in cool, clear weather. The kitties have all been excited about the cool temps (the feral kids LOVE cold. Def. my kids). I've had my coffee. I made a wonderful breakfast. It's been a nice morning.

Alas... my Cupressus glabra 'Chapparal' will have to come out this year. Disappointing. It was SO bright and grew SO well for many years. And then suddenly it would have almost no foliage left by Summer's end. Treated for fungal issues to no avail. I loved that tree.

Made this little gold maple leaf pendant today in honour of the first day of Autumn. Any excuse to saw some metal! The copper leaves at the bottom were made some years ago for hammered copper napkin rings. Someday, I'll make more of those if someone orders them.

A Cacao Affair (acacaoaffair.com) is up the road from the clinic that does the procedures for a lot of the cats, so I head up there after drop off to reward myself. Today's reward:

Okay. Esme's transferred back from luxury accommodations to the trap for her TNR appt. She is still a serious ball of anger. Some of that may settle in a month or so post-procedure. But she's spicy. Who wants a challenge? I think Esme will settle into being a lovely girl, but it will take TIME.
