I'll be honest. I did try this game as I believed the devs when they said no GenAI was used. Stopped playing after a while as I didn't click with the real-time action combat or the lack of variety in the creatures, but this has incentivised me to drop it.

One thing that struck me from the new Ocarina of Time footage was that I'm now realising Darunia's hair and beard were not rocks. I guess I mistook the spiky hair in the N64 version for rocks! Now I feel like an idiot! 😅

Darunia (Goron Chief) as he will appear in The Ocarina of Time Remake

I originally had mixed feelings on the new Mastodon album. There are some great songs, but some songs didn't really click with me on first listen. Going to see if a few more listens will change my mind, as I'm seeing a general consensus that the album is a 10/10 album.

My brother informed me of this when I was asking if he had heard the latest Mastodon stuff and between this, me not being too keen on the latest single makes it difficult to get excited about the new Mastodon album. Especially with the loss of Brent Hinds.

Picked up No Man's Sky for the first time in 2 years and found this little guy! Also I didn't know the game now had Pokemon battles in it! 😅

Was playing around in Pokemon Violet, saw an unusual amount of Snorunts and was messing around with the camera function. I had a shock to find when I zoomed out there was a shiny at the end that came up to me! I didn't do anything to increase shiny odds and I have no shiny charm in this playthrough!

Screenshot of Pokemon Violet where my character is looking towards 17 Snorunts (a small Pokemon with large teeth wearing a yellow cloak making it look like a cone)

My character being surrounded by 16 Snorunts with yellow cloaks plus one shiny Snorunt at the end with a light blue cloak

Shiny Snorunt (like regular Snorunt expect with a blue cloak instead of yellow and red eyes instead of blue eyes

This is eyerollingly bad for obvious reasons - the ableism, the bad pseudoscience/sociology - but I want to add "what is wrong with a good walking stick"? Not for nothing you kind of need them on rougher trails for balance and safety. Moreover, why do you care? Let women have a fucking stick!

What was awkward about my purchase was that there were 3 men in front of me who all bought Pokemon product and I was the 4th man in a row. So I wouldn't have blamed the guy at the till to think I was another scalper/investor bro. So I panicked and talked about how it's more difficult to collect now!

Mastodon have a new album coming out next month and from the two singles I've heard so far, I'm optimistic. Though it will likely always be a little strange listening to the band without the late, great Brent Hinds. I'm still looking forward to the release. youtu.be/94Cr7eKDZbA?...

On a more positive note, I am looking forward to the "Delta Stream" Pokemon TCG set that's supposed to be coming after the 30th Anniversary set. It's a set that might be likely to have Breloom in it and I'd love to see (and obtain) either a Breloom Ex card or an Illustration Rare Breloom!

Been playing a lot more guitar recently and have been writing metal music again. Been trying drop tuning for some new songs as well. While I normally write in E flat tuning, I've been writing a song in drop C# which sorta fits a style similar to Testament's "Low" or "The Gathering" albums.

There's always been something special about holding a game in your hands. A lot of us here first experienced our favorite games through glancing at the box art, scanning the writeup on the back cover, or flipping through the manual.

I don’t want this point to be lost in the discourse. Going digital-only means inequity for people who cannot afford internet or constantly purchasing new games. Libraries provide opportunities for people to experience games they otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford, and that will be lost.

Sony makes it official. No more physical Playstation games as of 2028. This is, no exaggeration, likely to be the single most anti-consumer, choice-limiting, destructive-to-the-medium decision in the entire history of videogames. A tragedy bordering on a crime. kotaku.com/sony-ending-...
