Really doubting it's a coincidence that the the democratic retreat and cultural decay we face today were all featured on menu of future horribles predicted by the losers of the long war on undergraduate liberal arts curricula and high school enrichment courses that began in the 1980's.

I'm so confused. Is 0 A.D. actually 4 B.C.? now? Did we fix that glitch when we switched from A.D./B.C. to C.E./B.C.E. without me noticing it?

You know, there are, in fact, dozens of more or less secular colleges and universities in the U.S. with no greek system whatsoever. I never heard a graduate of any of them say their college experience was anything but better for it or lacked for opportunities to drink or get laid.

The D.C. tip sheets business can't say it, but courtiers and politicians know better than we that no one stonewalls like this unless what's hidden would put him in a cell or a hole. And thus as a Democratic wave loomed, he lost power over everyone except the few he still has non-Epstein dirt on.

I, for one, am shocked and horrified to learn that huge spending cuts will go into effect tomorrow to offset some of the money we are borrowing to finance billionaire tax cuts. Who could have imagined such a thing would happen when they were voting for him in 2024?

Welp, I see Charlie Cook has come forward to acknowledge imminent Rebublican defeat and make it okay to talk about on the air by tacking "But Everyone Still Hates Democrats!" onto it. So, really, just a concealed catastrophic moral defeat for Democrats that in no way is a mandate for change. Whew.

Four times, I think, over the last few months I've opened Bluesky to see it crashing out and rushed off to MSNBC hoping it's happened. And what I hate is that I'm pretty sure that if it happens, Bluesky users won't actually break the servers, but I keep doing this whenever the servers crash anyway.

The funniest thing about the Schmitt rake stomp is that if it'd been a Dem we'd have a week of think pieces about how Dems lack of hoops literacy was alienating them from real America.

If there's one strain of despair-trolling I despise, it's "ooohhh, Teh terrifyingly powerful Republicans are so much better at politics than we are!" strain. But one thing they do we might learn from is how, one by one, as soon as the denial fades, they start positioning, not for 2028, but 2029.

Trump ordered the attacks on Smith because 100% of his behavior is literally determined by his personality disorders. Senators and Representatives joined in enthusiastically not just to please Trump, but to seed a persecution myth they hope will rally the stupid and crazy in 2029 if he's made AG.

The standard press narrative frame for opinion and sentiment polling stories forbids analysis of whether people were blaming the president for things that aren't his fault. Now that public sentiment is accurate and just rather than pumped up by media stupidity and propaganda, they seem confounded.
Michigan's monthly consumer survey says Americans feel worse about the economy than in the Great Financial Crisis.

It never fails to amaze me how crucial spherical cow assumptions about popularity and depth of commitment are to a lot of people's ideological programs. Some work along "oh, once we force feed people they'll like it" lines. Others assume an idea's popularity will survive realization without work.

Everyone (especially me) is always all "Doe Jake Tapper know?" and "Alert Alex Thompson" when Trump shows us he's a barely ambulatory pile of rotting turnips, but no Democrat has ever actually confronted them on it on TV. One wonders whether it's just being edited out.

You know what's more important than being ahead in polls? Running consistently above 50%. That's the point when those who are running behind lose their power to affect the outcome and must instead have a big assist from the opponent and/or the gods to recover.

Please stop overestimating what a democratic Congress can do. The oligarchs are spending money to make you think a Dem Congress can arrest people and hold trials and pass laws without a POTUS signature so that you’ll be disappointed when they don’t do stuff they can’t do. Don’t fall for it.

Wapo, LAT, NYT, CBS, and Fox, along with Facebook and Twitter, are all now actors in the same Public-Private Propaganda Partnership sector as RT and the oil-state media companies. The more or less legit remnant MSM must know it, but I can see why they'd be reluctant to start into that mess just now.

Elon Musk is flying under the radar in the Texas Senate race. Republicans want to keep it that way.
One Republican involved in the Texas Senate contest called Musk’s in-your-face campaigning in Wisconsin last year “a mistake.”

The important thing to know about the Crazification Factor as it once again looms is that it isn't an absolute floor. By its nature, a few of the crazy people in the 26% might well eventually defect too, but if they do, their reasons won't make any sense to those who aren't crazy.

Whether it's good or bad to know how dire a thing is just... really situational. But regardless, it doesn't seem like many people really see the direness of a legislature that meets rarely, and only to retroactively ratify the Leader's latest illegal decrees.

If only someone had thought to warn people being tempted by pleas to protest vote in an obviously close election that the most important issue on every federal ballot was control of the courts for the next two generations. Surely, they would have reacted thoughtfully instead of scoffing derisively.
