At 82, when asked if she had considered retiring: “Gosh, no. That’s up to God. But in the meantime, life is fabulous and I’m lucky enough to have lived a long time while surrounded by the greatest creative people. I have too much to dance and sing about yet, and too many people to entertain.”

Not to self: If I live to the Canadian male average of 81 years old, that means I have 10,732 days left. Make each one count for some palpable improvement in your life and/or lives of others - even if only in some small, barely perceptible way, even on the 'bad' days.

Note to self: Whenever faced with the choice between inertia and action, between comfort and growing pains, between staying home and venturing out into the world, choose action, growth and the potentially nonstop adventure of a life fully lived - the good and the bad. Every second is irreplaceable.

No wheels to grease, no axes to grind, no wares to pedal, no self to find. I have what I need. I know what I know and don't know. I am where my feet are.

I'm a fellow Canadian. I do understand. And no need for apologies of any kind (however characteristically Canadian that may be 😄). We are free to exchange words on the exchange of words. It's tough sometimes but also a beautiful thing between people capable of doing it.

I totally get that. I just try to resist what may be a natural impulse to avoid everything that might lead to bad behavior. I feel it too. I really do. And I get that the sentiment was meant metaphorically but, since actions *do* begin with ideas, I just offered a few of my own. Peace.

I appreciate the effort here but there aren't dangerous words, just dangerous actions. We start taking the kids inside when certain words are used & they won't learn what they mean. There are already too many words that too many of us don't understand. Maybe talking with the kids can work too.

A powerful, wonderful moment in my life, captured on film by an exceptional photographer and an exceptional person.
