I warily scoop up the gelatinous apple and place it my crate of faerie throwaways—floating fish that gasp and thrash in water; flat cat-eyes; a wolf’s hiccup. The apple quivers before exploding with a belch of foul rotten eggs. The fish flail away, but the ouroboros snake only eats its own tail.
