I'd never heard of Haley Heynderickx (sorry--I don't get out much and I'm shockingly geriatric), but she's a Portland girl, so she & I are off to a good start. Anyway, my son posted a short video of his cover of her song "The Bug Collector". From the looks of things, I'd say that boy's in love. :)

That the Irish, for the most part, have been some of the most vocal and steady critics of the genocide (on IG I've gotten shadowbanned multiple times for using that word) from the beginning makes me proud that my actual last name is Gormley. :)

On my way to treating myself to a caramelized banana latte 💙, I saw this little dude hopping around on the sidewalk. I realized he couldn't fly, so I simply scooped him up, got a cup to get him home in, and later brought him to the saints at the Wild Bird Fund in NYC. Probably a window collision.

I have a vague memory of standing in front of a radio as a little kid (5 or 6?), hearing this for the 1st time, and being totally drawn in by the wistfulness of the melody. Since then I've always been drawn in by songs in minor keys (it IS a minor key, right?), or at least songs with the same feel.

I was trying to find something to watch on Criterion a few nights ago, and I happened upon this. I didn't have high hopes, but it was just GORGEOUS--one of those films in which very little seems to happen, but is still really powerful. Great cinematography too. It's been haunting me since. #films
