Greetings Wonderful Members and Friends, we wanted to take a moment and catch up with everyone, as it’s been about a year since we formed! A little bit of stats to get us started, our Meetup Group, now has over 700 members, around 4,000 in our Slack, and we’ve ran 47 events since May 2024! 1/6

I had this same issue yesterday. I found that you can pour them on top of the grill and then slide it back a bit and it leaves a small gap where the briquettes fit through. So I pushed them through there and then spread them. Once the grill was hot, I cleaned it with newspaper.

Naty Clementi @ncclementi.bsky.social · 20/06/2025

You might want to look at the separation between the bars on the grill you'll plan on grilling. Some are very wide and burgers fall apart. In this case I'd go for a cut like skirt which cooks fast and there is no risk of falling through.

We switched to a generic one a while back. I don't recall the brand but it was what appeared after googling a bit for a more affordable replacement.

Other more local, also for next year would be GW OSCon. Then local to the DMV, all the data community meetups, are always looking for speakers. Upcoming that I know, it's not out yet but PyData NYC.

So the cfp has already passed, as a matter of fact the schedule went up for this year, but for next year, SciPy is my favorite conference ever, very welcoming and inclusive.

Would you say this applies to the East Coast in general? In the past I had worked with some people from the West Coast and it would take forever to make decisions because they would not "get to it". There would be tons of documents about the "it" but no execution, just talk. It was very exhausting.

Naty Clementi @ncclementi.bsky.social · 03/04/2025

That's a fair point. I'm just sad that it's only for a privileged group (so not very inclusive) and the goal is different.

130

Naty Clementi @ncclementi.bsky.social · 02/04/2025

Their goal is way off what it used to be and unfortunately there is a very high fee to join, a ~2k membership. As someone who volunteered a lot in the past for wwc (and continues to do so in my local chapter under a different name) it's very sad to see the turn it took. :(

Naty Clementi @ncclementi.bsky.social · 21/03/2025

Severancely? 10 episodes for that, now what?

000

Naty Clementi @ncclementi.bsky.social · 20/03/2025

Nope. The way it works is that you can pay today for the bill out of pocket (not with HSA) and then in the future (after your hsa grew because of investing) you can reimburse yourself from the hsa. As soon as you had the hsa when you paid out of pocket and you kept the receipt.

100

Naty Clementi @ncclementi.bsky.social · 20/03/2025

Also as far as I understand you can always reimburse your future self for an expense in the past as long as it happened after your hsa was established and you have the receipt. That way you can get the benefits of the growth in the account.

Naty Clementi @ncclementi.bsky.social · 17/03/2025

I've started to move to browser for this reason, it's quite the change. We have a gaming console + projector that we use as a TV but we are considering moving to a desktop + browser instead of the console to avoid commercials too.

Naty Clementi @ncclementi.bsky.social · 13/03/2025

You might want to think about getting a router that allows you to run ad blockers at the network level. If you consume things from the browser you'll be able to filter most adds. (unfortunately we haven't found how to escape it in the phone apps). We have one compatible with openwrt from gl-inet
