A team of geologists from the Geological Survey of Canada spent time mapping the surface around the area of Hopedale, Newfoundland and Labrador, researching the impacts that the Laurentide Ice Sheet had on the landscape during the last glaciation approximately 75,000 years ago.

The Canadian Coast Guard Ship Louis S. St-Laurent is en route from St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, to Tromsø, Norway. When they arrive in Norway in August, the science party will begin its mission in the Arctic Ocean.

Use fireworks safely. Postpone if it’s windy, secure them in place, and keep water or sand nearby in case of sparks. Consumer fireworks are powerful explosive devices. They can cause serious injuries and start fires that can spread quickly.
