Devastates me honestly. Yno was genuinely one of the nicest places I had on the internet. It went downhill after awhile but there's so many amazing artists and people I met on there.
However, for the victims sakes and everyone hurt, it's probably for the better It's decaying now. Just sucks tho
![Ayooo! So I've been involved with this nonstop for the past day or so and will do my best to summarize everything as it's kind of a lot
Someone in the ynfg community on twitter shared screenshots of one of YNO's head devs, Sam, making transphobic comments in a PokeRogue server which he was kicked out from. These images were then shared on bsky.
One user attempted to confront Sam on YNO's discord where he more or less said he did nothing wrong and some asshole decided to show up and make dumbass remarks for no reason per usual. The user left and not long after they were suspended for a day on discord. Screenshots of this were shared on tumblr and bsky.
Later that day another person who had been a victim of grooming attempted to confront Sam and more or less got the same thing. Sam deflected, someone else came to make stupid comments, ect. User ended up being bullied off.
Xen and Maengo replied to one of the comments on the initial post regarding Sam's comments sharing their own experience with YNO mods. They found out about a grooming case and later that mods knew but did nothing. Said mods had them join a group where they excused it with, "The individual was mentally ill so we couldn't do anything." Time passed and another incident unrelated involved Xen wrongfully banning a member using maengo's occurred [which he acknowledged was wrong and regrets it] and nothing really happened one worked out. Later Xen asked about having more safety measures put up and mods said they're look into it. He asked about a month later for an update and was promptly banned with Maengo being demoted with the incident earlier being cited. After the YNO/CU split the ban was undone and Maengo was reinstated as a mod and they were informed that the actual reason was because they knew about the grooming and mods wanted to silence them. ![A little later a callout post was made on tumblr regarding Mexikirb, a popular user on YNO who had been acting inappropriately despite being in a server for minors and making users uncomfortable, having giant meltdowns and crying to anyone he could find then not caring if anyone else needed help, and getting condescending or guilt trippy when called out on it and even had the audacity to make a post saying others on there didn't care about mental health. He was responsible for a lot of people leaving.
It was around this time that Nex decided he would no longer support YNO and made an announcement in the channel for it on YNOcord saying he wants it removed and citing the transphobic comments, mod favoritism, how they had treated one of UD's devs [the one that did the first confrontation], and how toxic the community was as a whole for the reasons.
NacroMoon from CU also put out a statement on bsky regarding negative experiences with YNO mods.
This all happened last night.
The next morning both the posts regarding Sam's comments and the callout for Mexikirb were shared multiple times on YNO's discord resulting in Mexi's ban and a lot of users questioning and calling out Sam on his comments. He continued to say he did nothing wrong with other users making crude jokes or comments in his defense. Mods started mass banning people that were questioning their actions, even going so far as to mass report them so they got suspended from discord. Namedude was one of the ones suspended. Hyo posted a statement that more or less read as damage control alongside a document regarding the incident with Xen and Maengo and promptly took it down after backlash.
Sam ended up saying, "I can't stand this server. Bye." and left the server. I believe hyo also decided to leave. A lot of badge artists have been calling for their work to be removed from the site on top of everyone that left or was kicked. ![Hey, I just wanted to say I'm sorry to everyone who liked YNO and had no idea it was like this. Know a few people that stuck to a certain part and enjoyed the community they had there and it sucks knowing they also probably caught strays or were dragged into this.
This all must have been really shocking and a lot to take in given the gravity. Truly hope it doesn't cause you too much distress and you're able to move on and find community or a place to enjoy these games with elsewhere.
To the victims of this place, I am so sorry for what you went through. No one deserved any of it and it was disgusting reading the things these people had done and faced no consequences for. Not being able to speak up about being mistreated or abused due to fear of backlash is a horrible spot to be put in, and I'm glad to see people being able to speak up and hopefully get justice and support for everything.
As said before, it's not like I did all this out of malice or a grudge. Know people that were still in the server and would hear about the sort of stuff going down all the time. How people kept getting bullied or pushed out and mods not doing anything or even siding with the bullies. Every time I brought up more people talked about the stuff going on.
I truly do love these games, they've helped me so much and I have met a lot of amazing people through them and am beyond grateful for that. It was messed up that such a toxic place was the main hub and people that found comfort in these games felt like they didn't belong and had nowhere. These games and the fans deserve to have a healthy place to find like minded individuals, they deserve so much better than what YNO was.

How does a biblical view turn into being against/not for trans people though?
I'm not a Christian myself but I do retain a lot of the values from it - my view is that whatever greater being there is, be it God or something else - created trans people to give them a path of self-discovery, and hardships to overcome

I think we don't know that yet due to limited research
Akuma: If nothing else, it has a lot less permanent affects than going through puberty that doesn't align with your gender, or choosing to go through a different one and then regretting it later
And there are way more reports that they have no lasting effects, than anything suggesting that they might have any significant ones

Do you think that was a biased decision based on views similar to mine, or perhaps more hateful in origin?
Akuma: I believe it's a mix of many things, and more complicated than 1 simple reason
The reason they cited was "not enough evidence"
Which to me reads as choosing to ignore the evidence that's out there considering they were made in the 80s
But without any more info from the people that made the decisions, its hard to say for sure
