A lot of us worry that Dems may win the midterms, but somehow lose the long term fight. They don’t have a plan to reign in Trump, much less punish him, or put another way, how are they going to discredit him and push illiberal forces back for the next half decade or so?

We’re officially in the “blame the Vizier,” phase of a collapse. The gateway to the next phase is Congress, or public opinion, insisting that top officials be removed and replaced. Eventually the leader will dig his heels in leaving no other option but to blame him.

I read a lot of history. More people should. Death was incredibly common pre-modern medicine; especially among young children. Only a stubborn monster could be an anti-vaxer in the face of so many stories of death and permanent disability from so many diseases we can prevent today.

Supporters of protective tariffs, weather it’s the Gilded Age or today, tend to misunderstand economics as a zero-sum game. Why give them our money, ignoring that we get products in return. Why give them access to our market, ignoring that we get access to there’s, etc.

In general I think C level management should be held responsible for criminal acts of the company. Companies can’t go to jail. They can’t be out to death. People that make decisions that kill thousands can be.

If I’m Georgia Democrats I’d be working real hard to shift Atlanta’s branding in state. It’s actually a great success story, but black, Yankee, liberal Atlanta is always associated with a stereo type of 1970’s Gary Indiana by white rural conservative voters. Some quick googling to follow.

James Garfield’s assassination is an overlooked moment in U.S. history. Radical change didn’t follow it, but attitudes shifted that sent the U.S. on a different path. Before it the interests of the wealthy were seen as synonymous with those of the country. Afterwards that wasn’t assumed.
