It's #IndiePressDay today which is about raising the profile of small presses. Why? Because their output is incredible: Compared to the big publishers, Indies are more likely to take a risk on an experimental manuscript or more difficult subjects, and we need that freedom of speech more than ever!

The unique Dunston Pillar, south of Lincoln, dates to 1751. It's an "inland lighthouse" built to guide travellers across the heathland and deter highwaymen (which may have included Dick Turpin). See it while you still can; it's heartbreaking to see such an intriguing piece of history left to decay.

Dave Ball was absolutely god tier, work like this din't just set the pace for the 80s but set something much much deeper in motion. Sounds as relevant now as it ever did. The opposite of retro, it's still full of as yet unfulfilled futures.
