Gemini 3.8 Flash is the first llm based tts offering that I’ve felt confident enough in to re-ignite this. It’s not open for registration yet, but I’m thinking it’ll be a 5$ one time license to use with BYOK, and a 15$ a month subscription to use my gemini key.

Originally, I was using the neural tts services from Azure, AWS and Google, which were good enough for me, but weren’t worth offering as a service. When LLM’s appeared, long context TTS offering quality dropped through the floor, and the neural services stopped even getting a look in.

I’ve had the webtospeech.app domain for years, maybe half a decade now. Today I’ve re-launched a service on it, which uses Gemini 3.8 Flash’s tts model. It pulls the main content from a webpage, and converts it into your own little audiobook.

I've played with TTS a lot, both neural and llm based, and LLM's are just far too indeterminate for them to work well. If you go too long, the output degrades, if you instantiate a new request too often (like per paragraph), the voice changes too often. Neural sounded worse, but it was consistent.

Is there a way to expose ports to people without a tailscale account? Was gonna setup a minecraft server for my friends, but they’re not technical. I could expose the port with cloudflare tunnel, but idk how I could do it with tailscale.

I'm gonna say it "feels faster", because obviously with SPA coming in, there are more loading skeletons, but the TTFB was quite jarring in the old version, so it "feels" better.

Upgraded. Looks good. Definitely felt the speed increase in my package upgrades. Do you have a PR handy which dealt with the overlapping package installs? I'd love to have a read.

I signed up for Claude Max 5x and I have barely used it (alongside my ChatGPT Pro sub). The session limit gets absolutely chewed by fable 5.1, and I hate Claude Code. It's amazing how hard they've fumbled. I should probably at least try to use it I guess to "make my money worth"... but it's painful

ASUS ProArt PA278CGRV. Got one of these bad boys today after working off my 16" screen for the past 9 months. Took a bit of finicking around to get MacOS to play nice, and their "smart dimming" is incredibly stupid. But the 144hz is a big upgrade. And the screen realestate is very nice. 8/10.

My tinfoil conspiracy is they're going to try and get the government to enforce this, leading to blocking chinese providers who don't play ball, and then having free rein at later date to accelerate without the chinese providers in the market.
