Nathan @nathanbeddoe.com · 24/09/2026I’ve had the webtospeech.app domain for years, maybe half a decade now. Today I’ve re-launched a service on it, which uses Gemini 3.8 Flash’s tts model. It pulls the main content from a webpage, and converts it into your own little audiobook. 100
Nathan @nathanbeddoe.com · 24/09/2026I've played with TTS a lot, both neural and llm based, and LLM's are just far too indeterminate for them to work well. If you go too long, the output degrades, if you instantiate a new request too often (like per paragraph), the voice changes too often. Neural sounded worse, but it was consistent. 100

Nathan @nathanbeddoe.com · 13/09/2026Ok, new PDS up and running, with Spindle and Knot to boot :) 0120
Nathan @nathanbeddoe.com · 13/09/2026I'm gonna say it "feels faster", because obviously with SPA coming in, there are more loading skeletons, but the TTFB was quite jarring in the old version, so it "feels" better. 010
Nathan @nathanbeddoe.com · 13/09/2026I signed up for Claude Max 5x and I have barely used it (alongside my ChatGPT Pro sub). The session limit gets absolutely chewed by fable 5.1, and I hate Claude Code. It's amazing how hard they've fumbled. I should probably at least try to use it I guess to "make my money worth"... but it's painful 000
Nathan @nathanbeddoe.com · 12/09/2026nuphy.com/products/nup... bought one of these with my monitor today, as well as a Logitech MX Master 4. The Nuphy sounds amazing, and to be honest, I wouldn't have known the brand without their collab with @raycast.comnuphy.com 000
Nathan @nathanbeddoe.com · 12/09/2026ASUS ProArt PA278CGRV. Got one of these bad boys today after working off my 16" screen for the past 9 months. Took a bit of finicking around to get MacOS to play nice, and their "smart dimming" is incredibly stupid. But the 144hz is a big upgrade. And the screen realestate is very nice. 8/10. 000
Nathan @nathanbeddoe.com · 12/09/2026My tinfoil conspiracy is they're going to try and get the government to enforce this, leading to blocking chinese providers who don't play ball, and then having free rein at later date to accelerate without the chinese providers in the market. 010

Nathan @nathanbeddoe.com · 04/09/2026Apple Silicon is the best and worst thing that apple’s released, because man has their OS (both mac and ios) gone to absolute dogshit. I go to search apps on my iphone, and CONSTANTLY, the keyboard never shows. And when it does, sometimes the input doesn’t autofocus. Cmon man 000
Nathan @nathanbeddoe.com · 04/09/2026The only good thing I can think of for the delayed release to the masses, is it allows ai tooling platforms to queue up their gpt-6 astra support so they don't get bombarded with "astra when" requests from consumers. 000
