Fair enough. I'm not sure if it's a loophole, then

True, but... Consider a competitive exam with a word limit of 500. The first 10 candidates are selected. You could desk-reject an otherwise excellent 600-word copy from a top-10 candidate or accept it anyway. What would be fair here? And what if some know you would accept it and others don't?

I remember a Belgian journalist who managed to enter any festival for free by wearing attire that made him look like some sort of technician.

What, an Anthropic researcher states (without evidence) that there is a 10% chance that AI will cause human extinction? Incredible, we have never before heard such a claim!

As a preventive measure, I practice a physical activity that is both technical and fun. Brain and body can focus on this one thing, giving me a welcome break while I enjoy myself. The fun part also motivates me to start it.

I am among the many people irresistibly tempted by LLMs, so I don't blame anyone for their use. But when I think about it, they might be overkill by a long shot for any useful purpose I might have for them. (2/2)

There might be better trade-offs than "AI" to work as a substitute. You could be better off with , for example, some sort of card game introducing questions, randomness, constraints , etc. in your thinking, while not prompting you to make any errors and not emitting a gram of CO2 (1/2)

I happened to read Karel Čapek's War with the Newts in early 2023. It is firmly rooted in its time, but I found its catalogue of human reactions universal enough that it still haunts me whenever I think about what we are doing with LLMs, for example.

Universities here have been suffering for 25 years from retrenchment. What's new is the despising language qualifying academics as "self-proclaimed intellectuals" and fantasizing a coalition between some universities, the socialist party and the public broadcast as a "bermuda triangle". (3/3)

If you can get your hands on your old CDs, you might be surprised to enjoy using this physical format again. I found it oddly satisfying to choose among a very limited set of physical objects and put one in a player, then play it several times because you don't have many of them.
