Now that the Cubs are eliminated, maybe we need the other Chicago team, with their blessings from the Pope, to reset things. I don’t know, just spitballing here.

First everyone wanted to talk about Allen Iverson. Now it’s all Sports Illustrated this, SI that. Make up your minds.

It won’t happen but I wonder if another Cubs-Guardians World Series would reset the karma of the universe and undo this morass we’ve been in for the last 10 years. Like undoing the blip.

“I’m under no obligation to meet you halfway to fascism, and I won’t.” For people who aren’t from Minnesota, this means get out of here with that bullshit. All the way out.

ICE abducted a WBB player while she was traveling with her Kentucky State team in early August at Louisville airport. She has been imprisoned for 1.5 months and denied care for a serious ACL injury. It is the responsibility of universities and the NCAA to protect their players. They have failed.
Aminata Seck, 26, a student-athlete at Kentucky State University, was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement at the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport while traveling with her school's basketball team Aug. 7, said Sadiqa Reynolds, a lawyer helping coordinate Seck's case.

Seck's team was headed to New York for a tournament, and she was taken into custody after going through airport security, said Reynolds, former president and CEO of the Louisville Urban League.

All the Boomer and Gen X memes about how everyone younger than them is sheltered. Gee, I wonder why parents don’t let their kids do stuff on their own anymore. Also, those memes aren’t wrong. They just ignore that those same generations implemented all this bs so no one else could be independent.

Since this worldwide stats, I can weigh in on this a bit. I live in Taiwan and Threads is basically the old Twitter here. Everyone uses it. I don’t, because I don’t speak Chinese, so it’d be pointless for me, but pretty much everyone else does. 1/

I'd like to read an oral history of the decision-making process that led a sleepy seaside town to outsource their municipal services to an emancipated minor, who himself owns six dogs and about $10B worth of DARPA hardware.

Last night, Wednesday July 29, the Diana Jones Award for Excellence in Gaming was awarded to Mischief Toy Store, a progressive, independent, local shop in St. Paul, Minnesota that has a long track record of working with the community to resist oppression and facism. Throughout their 11 years in business, they have spoken out about the lack of regulations amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the effect of tariffs on small businesses, printed ICE OUT posters amid the occupation in Minneapolis and the greater Minnesota area, and were able to coordinate a mass distribution of ICE alert whistles during the occupation in early 2026.

In January, the owners publicly spoke out against the ICE raids in the wake of the murder of Renee Nicole Good and were immediately targeted by the Department of Homeland Security. In an act that they believed to be retaliatory, Mischief Toy Store was audited by DHS, who demanded employment records going back three years. The state of the audit is currently unknown, but at the time of issuance, the store had three days to comply.

Nate Warren asked a while back if I would write a little something about how I got into board games. So naturally I wrote a 3,000 word personal essay. You can check it out here. It’s halfway decent if I must say so myself. Or just click through to see what I looked like as a baby. Either way

When I was a kid at my grandma’s house in Nebraska, we would visit in the summer. She had a window ac in her bedroom, and one in the living room but that one didn’t work. I slept in the living room and my parents in the spare bedroom. A non working window ac meant I couldn’t open the windows

I’ve been thinking about this for a while, and I don’t know if fans blame players for work stoppages in sports because those are names they know. I think there might be more going on. Sports fans make up the same demographics as the sports they watch: labor and ownership.

Instead of implementing automatic strikes, MLB should mandate that tv broadcasts can’t have the strike box. Players and involved fans would still bicker about balls/strikes, but I guarantee at least 80% of bitching is from fans who can’t tell the difference and just saw the pitch outside the box
