Found this old photo of Nate’s Datacenter back in the day with a dedicated dialup connection! Over two weeks of uptime! Netzero was the shit! ~2007. They were one of the only dialup ISP’s I found that didn’t limit connection time.

About to sign up for AT&T's 5G service. $105 a month in my area. 20G as main and this as backup.

Got their 8 port Aggregation switch for some additional 10G ports! Waiting a couple months before I pick up the Pro XG 48 PoE!

Everything has been migrated over to the EFG! Last remaining port is for my incoming U7 XGS AP unit!

She’s up and running! Had to setup offline and go in and change port 5 to WAN 1 and force set the port to 25G and set RS-FEC and port came up and I got an IP from my ISP!

With my bonus this year from work, I will be picking up a UniFi Enterprise Fortress Gateway for my 20G connection and future WAN expansion's! I now have access to AT&T Fiber and will be signing up for 2G (to do bypass) for fail over and maybe Leo.

Wow, pfSense hates me. I am 100% CPU limited on pfSense!

I got a system up on 25G! Speedtests coming soon!

110

Nate's Datacenter @natesdatacenter.net · 12/11/2025

Just tested the failover on pfsense and all is good! Only about 10 seconds of downtime for things to kick over to my old connection! Should be good to go during the beta test if any issues arise!

Nate's Datacenter @natesdatacenter.net · 10/11/2025

20G is online! I only have 10Gbps devices so 10Gbps is the fastest I can get currently to one device!

Nate's Datacenter @natesdatacenter.net · 10/11/2025

Hopefully my last 8Gbps speedtest. This is a uncapped XGS-PON connection so I am getting everything shes got.

New pfsense testing with my new SFP28 network card. Loopback tests look good, no errors and links come up at 25G. CPU is a Intel i5 4690k @ 4GHz. Hopefully should be good for +10Gbps throughput!

Per my local IX site (KCIX), my ISP now has 400Gbps of connectivity!! bgp.tools still shows 200Gbps so waiting for that to update to make to official. We have gone from 30Gbps to up to 400Gbps in about a year. They must be seeing massive growth in traffic.

000

Nate's Datacenter @natesdatacenter.net · 24/09/2025

Gonna update pfSense this weekend as well as take down my whole homelab as my ISP is doing some things at my house and they need access to where my Fiber Jack is. Started to get some good uptime!

My old job, “we got 10mw online and 35mw total coming soon”. Current DC I work at, that’s such a cute and tiny number lmao

Nate's Datacenter @natesdatacenter.net · 22/09/2025

Sadly I’ll be under NDA for my 20Gig. I did ask on what exactly I can share. Still waiting to hear back on that. Things are starting to happen though!

I do a lot of walking out on that DC floor compared to my normal step count lmao

OMG, so I left Sunday to travel for work. Got to my hotel and VPN worked fine. Monday morning I get a text saying another fiber cut in my area and internet is down. It’s back up that evening but VPN still down. Finally get my wife to send me what my current IPv4 address is and it changed!!!

Nate's Datacenter @natesdatacenter.net · 11/09/2025

My ISP was out at my house today testing light levels for 25G-PON! Hopefully everything passed and I can get upgraded soon! 20Gig here I come!

Submarine cable cuts in the Red Sea disrupt connectivity between Europe and Asia. Latency spikes as traffic is re-routed around the broken cables. @kentik.bsky.social's Cloud Latency Map captures the impacts here: clm.kentik.com?q=4084ef2b1d...

This is my biggest issue with Steam, downloading a game at only 1Gbps uses almost 50% of an AMD 9955HX3D (16/32threads). I understand its "decompressing" files in real time, but that needs to be an option.
