On May 23, 1908, Congress and President Teddy Roosevelt created the National Bison Range, an attempt to save the animal from extinction by establishing a sprawling wildlife refuge. It was the first time tax dollars were used to buy land specifically to conserve wildlife. #conservation #wildlife
