Just a Girl @natbee.bsky.social · 19/04/2026And I have now startes a Lattes and Legends on audio as a palate cleanser and am going to read a chapter of So far gone by Jess Walter. I'm starting to feel better but always happy to have an excuse to read :) 020
Just a Girl @natbee.bsky.social · 19/04/2026And more still! Finished We all want impossible things by Catherine Newman. This has to be the best novel about accompanying a dying person I've read. The absurdity of the situation, how life somehow continues, the pondering about birth and death and all the stuff in between. It's also a funny book. 110
Just a Girl @natbee.bsky.social · 19/04/2026Oh but I read more. I read a graphic novel, All our ordinary stories by Teresa Wong. Exploration in images of the story of her parents route to Canada, shrugging off swimming to Hong Kong to become refugees as normal, getting sent to reeducation camps, prison. Ouf. 100
Just a Girl @natbee.bsky.social · 19/04/2026Me, knocking on your door with books in my hand: Hello, would you like to hear about the good word...s that I read? In these books? (Anyways I was sick and finished this delightful japanese fever dream novel (always ideal when feverish, truly) on audiobook, Breasts and Eggs by Mieko Kawakami. 150
Just a Girl @natbee.bsky.social · 19/04/2026This sounds like the begining of an 80's horror movie. Night of the living microwave! 130
Just a Girl @natbee.bsky.social · 15/04/2026Crossroads by Kaleb Dahlgreen. Listen I don't know much about hockey, but I was extremely moved by this young man's positive attitude and resilience, not just after surviving the Humbolt Broncos crash, but before too. Wish him nothing but the best, truly impressive. 000

Just a Girl @natbee.bsky.social · 03/04/2026Everything is fine here, Iryn Tushabe. I enjoyed how this book brought me into a different culture and made me ponder how it would shape so many aspects of your worldview. A coming of age story that explores being different in a country or family with values different from your own. 100
Just a Girl @natbee.bsky.social · 03/04/2026The hunger we passed down, Jen Sookfong Lee. While this book gripped me, I really hoped these women would get some redemption or victory over grief, over patriarchy, over the hungry ghosts of intergenerationnal trauma. Will sit on my hunger for justice. 100
Just a Girl @natbee.bsky.social · 01/04/2026Julie Chan is Dead by Liann Zhang. I litterally devoured this, it brought me in a totally unforeseen direction. The vibes at the end were 100% this gif. Just a Girl @natbee.bsky.social · 22/03/2026Restaurant Kid, Rachel Phan. What a great memoir. A great reflection that goes beyond the restaurant. I enjoyed the audio version read by the author. 110
Just a Girl @natbee.bsky.social · 21/03/2026🎀 Brunch this morning! Hashbrown, salsa, poached egg, feta (kiddo finished cheddar last night so I subbed it) tajin, yogourt (sour cream had... Expired. Just a Girl @natbee.bsky.social · 21/03/2026🎀 Met my grand nephew (!!!). I love him to pieces. No words! 🎀 Joined a (non religious) choir in January, it took me a while to get the hang of it (altos often aren't quite singing the melody and you need to tune out the other melodies) but I'm really excited to hear the songs come together :) 110

Just a Girl @natbee.bsky.social · 07/03/2026Currently reading The hunger we pass down and I was immediately pulled in. Up next Oxfor Soju Club. I may not make it through the full long list before winners declared, but out of the short list, I'm rooting for Terry Punchout or Cure for Drowning, they were both great and reads I'd recommend. 110
Just a Girl @natbee.bsky.social · 07/03/2026It's different this time, Joss Richard. I'm not much of a rom-comm girly but this was nicely done. As it went on I kept feeling like when a horror story character runs up the stairs and you want to scream about June. Some racy bits and love wins, but some therapy sessions could have avoided this. 100
Just a Girl @natbee.bsky.social · 07/03/2026Never been better, Leanne Toshiko Thompson. What a funny and sweet book about mental health, healing, and friendships. If "My Best Friend's Wedding" started in a psych ward. I loved all the carachters, and absolutely loved how this unravelled. Fresh and fun. 100
Just a Girl @natbee.bsky.social · 07/03/2026Heated Rivalry, Rachel Reid. I wanted to finish season 1 of the show before diving into the series, which I promise to read, in order, but whew, watch the show, the world is terrible and we needed this series so so bad, thank you Rachel. 130
Just a Girl @natbee.bsky.social · 07/03/2026Searching for Terry Punchout, Tyler Hellard. More East Coast content please. We're the best coast, I didn't have to know anything about hockey to love the atlantic small town universe the author created in a fun and irreverant way. 100
Just a Girl @natbee.bsky.social · 07/03/2026Foe, Ian Reid - A futuristic story with twists and turns with black mirror vibes (it is now a tv series? movie?). A satisfying page turner. 100
Just a Girl @natbee.bsky.social · 07/03/2026The cure for drowning, by Logan Paylor. This was a true delight. The idea of fae and transness made me think just a little of Fayne by Anne-Marie MacDonald, but this was more of a wartime romance with a twist. I loved this story that managed to give all of us a bit of victory. 100
Just a Girl @natbee.bsky.social · 07/03/2026A Minor Chorus my Billy Ray Belcourt - Read this one a year ago, Billy Ray always puts a poetic lense on reflections on his lived experience as a queer/2Spirit Indigenous person, loved it. 110
