So, in fact, the most salient point is what you think of Cofnas and his work, specifically how he was hired while he lacked any expertise in the subject he was purportedly hired for, beating out real experts, by a hiring committee of one individual, an alleged racist bsky.app/profile/hoov...

I don’t have the stomach or the time to go through Cofnas’ work for evidence of plagiarism, but it seems likely to be there since, by all accounts, he’s an unintelligent and unoriginal scholar more reliant on blog posts than peer-reviewed articles

From the 1930s through 50s Hollywood had some amazing movies. And so well made. I was struggling to think of a single iconic or memorable image from this movie— maybe the cyclops, but that too seemed like a visual quote from 40s claymation

But they used to be able to make a big budget movie in Hollywood that was inventive and original in its images— no longer?

Counters a naive reading of the poem as autobiography, and reveals it to be, apart from a representation of the shifting sands of memory, a really genius parody of a certain kind of 'immigrant poem!! The poem is linked at the bottom and is also on Poetry Daily.
