I don't normally do #InverteFest but I happened to take some not-completely-terrible pictures of the fauna at the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago, so... here, have some critters! (I am *utterly* hopeless at photographing bumblebees. So many blurred butts in that folder 😆)

A very pretty hoverfly face-first in a half-open magenta flower. Sunlight glints off its folded, translucent wings and yellow and black patterned thorax. A blur of green vegetation forms the background.

A slug, vaguely striped and spotted in different shades of brown, glides purposefully down the slightly ragged bark of some sort of birch-adjacent tree. Its glossy body snakes in and out of a hole with peeling pieces of bark hugging its back.
