In Focus: The 2026 National AANHPI Women+'s Survey - NAPAWF

Here are some early findings from In Focus, our new annual study examining the issues shaping AANHPI women and gender-expansive people nationwide! 👇
The majority of AANHPI women+ are caregivers, but 42% lack a health care provider for their own reproductive health care needs. Logos of NAPAWF, Sprout Insight, and Lake Research Partners are at the bottom.AANHPI women+ carry significant caregiving responsibilities while navigating economic insecurity, gaps in health care, and fears around immigration status and enforcement. Nearly half are not confident in their economic ability to care for a family member who is seriously ill or injured, aging, or who has chronic health conditions. Among those caring for someone with a serious health or mental health condition, 40% know someone avoiding travel, medical care, work, or other public places because of immigration status.

The Hyde Amendment poses a major barrier between millions of AANHPI women and access to abortion care. The EACH Act would end the Hyde Amendment, require abortion coverage in government health plans and programs, and protect private insurers that choose to cover abortion care.

Among abortion patients in states where Medicaid is not restricted from covering abortion, 45.5 percent of Asian respondents said they used Medicaid to pay for their abortion.

napawf @napawf.org · 30/09/2026
This rule is a violation of our reproductive freedoms and has been deeply harmful to AANHPI women+. About 4.62m Asian women & 613,000 Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander women are enrolled in Medicaid.

Today is the 50th anniversary of the passage of the Hyde Amendment, a law that prohibits the use of federal funds for abortion, with narrow exceptions.

Today is NHPI Women’s Equal Pay Day, a stark reminder of the pay gap between Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander women and non-Hispanic men. NHPI women earn just 67¢ for every $1 paid to white, non-Hispanic men–and some face even wider gaps. Pay equity can’t wait.
