BOOK REVIEW Thanks so much to @zooloosbooktours for sending me the copy of The Last Jager by S. Naomi Scott.Genre : Sci-Fi (Military Sci-Fi, Sci-Fi Western, Sci-Fi Adventure)Page Count : 128 pagesStandalone / Series : StandalonePublisher : SNS Media Blurb:Kaatje Heigerman is a pariah amongst her own people, a woman from a community of pacifists, who went to war and then tried to come home again. When one of the community is killed by something they don't understand it's Kaatje the elders turn to for help, charging her with putting a stop to the killing. But it's been a long time since she last took up arms in anger, and even with the training and implants she got from the war she soon finds she's not ready to deal with what's really going on in the backwoods of Kapra's Landing.REVIEW:At just over 120 pages, The Last Jager is on the shorter side of novellas, but the author certainly packs quite alot into those pages. So here we have a western/ sci-fi story, and as happens alot in this genre, its easy for authors to veer off into steempunk and or fantasy, but here the author stick to the more traditional type of western, which I enjoyed. Don't get me wrong, I do love a bit of steempunk, sci-fi western, but it's refreshing to not see that all the time.So here we follow Kaatje, who lives in Goodwill, a pacifist community, but due to her willingness to fight for what she believes in, has never really felt at home there and has always been somewhat of an outsider. That is until the community finds itself under threat, and they turn to Kaatje for help.Want to know more? Be sure to pick your copy up to find out.My overall impression from this read was a great sense of atmosphere and unease initially between Kaatje and the community. I really did feel that disconnect and for such a short story, the author was able to include some nice, descriptive details. It's difficult to fully get to know characters in novellas, but the author did a decent job of fleshing them out enough.4 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 's from me.#fatguyreading #zooloosbooktours #Ad #Bookstagram
