...just got informed that a search for my "gift of the unmage" returned an AI "summary" that begins, "this is not a real book. It is one of many book titles invented to decry 'book banning' that never happened." Er. Author begs to differ. It's been a real book for decades. Ask Harper Collins. /1

I'm enthusiastic because I have watched Texas politics since I was old enough to read and he is challenging the status quo effectively. I hope he doesn't try to find too much so-called middle ground; just running against corruption ought to be enough.

Last month, an email from SFUSD informed me that my 7yo would be taking a state-mandated test from a company called Amira, and it led me down a rabbit hole. Here's how big tech is infiltrating SF public schools — whether families & teachers want it or not. www.coyotemedia.org/sfusd-ai-ami...

The value of a given outcome is implicitly tied to the process that produced it. The point of completing a university assignment isn't solely to get a good grade; it's to show you've acquired the knowledge that the good grade represents. If you use AI to write the assignment, it's meaningless.

"De-Trumpification" has to be one of the top agenda items if Dems win power. All the lawlessness and every last one of his efforts to turn DC into an imperial capital should be undone.

We get more than half our food on a weekly trip (on bikes) to the farmers market. I walk to a very good small grocery a couple of times a week for other needs. Once a month my partner bikes a little farther to a store for bulk goods (beans & grains). And we hit specialty shops as needed.

Maps. I always got a large road atlas for long trips. People who drove a lot in large metro areas got a book of maps by neighborhoods. And you asked for detailed directions to friends' houses, preferably with landmarks. I still like maps because I want to see the whole route.

Californians, you have a very important job to do. Spread the word on why everyone should vote YES ON PROP 40 and no on 41 and 42. If you're confused about these propositions, billionaires like Sergey Brin and Peter Thiel want it that way. Here's a good explainer: www.tiktok.com/t/ZPL1pponT/
