How do you turn a mountain of fun facts into a book?

Plan. Sourcing. Assessing the source. ID'ing the goods. Extracting the goods. Processing.

Figuring out your goals with this story. Research will help you do this. Search engines can be useful but not Google with AI switched on (you can switch it off by adding &udm=14 to the end of the results URL)

Look at old professor websites for good stuff, and use Wikipedia for its keywords and footnotes to actual sources. Also hit up libraries and scholars

Also non-academic sources, hobbyists and enthusiasts, they know stuff too and aren't necessarily as in thrall to Great White Men of History

This is one of those jokes that would only make sense to a few people and shouldn't be shared widely. I'm going to share it widely today since it's #ausvotes #auspol and #freecomicbookday too. It needs too much explanation to actually be funny but it kind of means something to me.

Yesterday our premier announced a crackdown on Palestine protest in Victoria in the name of "social cohesion". Today I exclusively reveal secret vicgov plans

A list of guidelines about how Sammy is to be used.

Sammy is the face of Victoria's new Social Cohesion laws. He
will introduce Victorians to the actions they may no longer take,
solemn pledges they need to take and protective items they may
no longer wear in order to be considered Socially Cohesive!

Here are some guidelines about Sammy, his visual design and
how he is to be used.

Please be sure Sammy is always illustrated with the correct
colour set. Sammy has pink eyes (#F7D3DE) and dark eyebags
(#9D9A8C) because of his sleepless nights after seeing a
Palestinian flag.

The previous version of Sammy (v.4.x) should be removed from
all draft comms. The red previously used for Sammy's mouth
interior (#973216) was seen as alluding to "blood libel".

Sammy has teeth, because he is "taking a bite out of crime"!
That crime is protesting genocide.

Sammy should never be drawn wearing a mask, unless he is in
a hospital operating theatre setting.
