okay since i'm basing this ship off of delusion, i can elaborate a little bit more

I don't see them as a functional duo at first, at all. Solo finds Calico annoying af and Calico mostly finds Solo fun to mess with (despite everyone warning them not to). Solo is constantly at Cal's throat because of their goading. Something something, unhealthy form of attention seeking.

Calico crushes first as they ran into him once when they were younger and admired how free he was. He could go anywhere, do anything. Calico was just a cat in a cage. Basically a one off encounter that changes Calico for the better (?). Solo crushes harder way later on.

Currently Calico sees it as a silly crush that won't go anywhere because it's Solo of all people and Calico is scared of going for it. Meanwhile Solo doesn't even recognize these feelings until much later and he despites it so heavily. Oh my god of all people it's the fucking cat. He might as well take it to his grave. Calico wouldn't even like him back (ironic).

That's all I got so far, just my lil skrungles :3
